Are good looking people more successful?

I doubt anyone would argue (of course, if anyone would they can surely be found on Lit), but in general terms you will find better looking people at Nordstrom than you will at Wal-Mart. The guests at a Four Seasons are surely better looking than the guests at a Holiday Inn. If I wanted to pick up a hottie I would have better luck at a Flemings than a McDonalds. So are good looking people more successful (in terms of wealth) than the ugly people? If so, than why?

Yes there are exceptions to every rule, but in general terms I say yes, yes they are. But why?

Maybe because a rich man no matter how ugly has always been able to get a hot wife, thus breeding good looking kids with a better opportunity to go to school and be successful?

Maybe because a good looking woman will be promoted over an ugly woman of equal talent?

Maybe because good looking people have a drive to work at it and be in shape, that transfers over to their lives while the ugly fatty is simply happy being a truck driver?
