Are different genres reviewed differently?

Howdy,

I recently submitted a non-consent story, then an erotic couplings a day or two later. The non-consent is still pending review but the erotic coupling has been approved.

Does that mean the non-consent is more problematic as a genre or that my specific story is likely flawed in some way? Or are there different people who approve different genres?

I am anxious to have the non-consent published as I intend to come out here and beg for reviews from this most excellent band of perverts. :D I've never tried antyhing like that, in fiction or life, so I was kinda making stuff up as I went. I'd like to hope that my imagination and attnetion to detail are good enough to make the leap over the chasm of inexperience, but we'll see.

Thanks!

To tell you the truth, I don't really know what the review and approval process consists of. I've heard that they read every story submitted, and the very thought of that makes me queasy. I donlt know if they use different reviewers for different categories or if they look at some categories more closely than others.

I think the approval process is a little slow right now because of all the attention given to the Holiday contest.

I think Laurel (the one who posts the stories) holds some back if there is heavy traffic in that category. There might have been too many nonconsent stories lately that's why yours got delayed a little.

You might want to go to your members area and check out the status of your story to see if it's still 'pending'. :)

It is still pending and shows 9 reads. The other story which was released for publication was pending for a shorter time and had 2 reads.

I had not noticed a flood of NC stories recently, so I doubt it is being held due to volume.

As long as it's pending, it will post. The doc's explanation of the Holiday entries blocking the way must be working.

Meanwhile you can give us a link to your Erotic Couplings one. :)

My first story, Manipulation - Part One has been in the pipe for 12 days, 15 reviews. It is catagorised Novels and Novellas, nothing extreme. I had intended to post the five parts at weekly intervals, the second part I only submitted yesterday, given the length of time the first part was taking and is already out to nine reviews.

Although I appended a big note for them to be 'published' a week apart, I am now getting concerned that P2 may be up before P1!

15 reviews sounds a lot to me, any one know, my previous two only had six each.

Wills,

That had happened to my story when the last contest was going on. Mine wasn't a contest entry and I had submitted it in the middle of a contest. It took ages to post and had over 20 views by the time it was posted if I rmemeber correctly.

It was posted eventually. :)

edit: doh! quoted the wrong post!

Here ya go...it's not real exciting but it does have the disctinction of being almost entirely true. Most of what I do is a wierd porno version of my life, but this one is about as accurate as I could make it (allowing for a little shortening of time to keep it readable and interesting.) I hope you like it, and thanks for asking! My other stuff is a bit more exciting (I think.)

Damppanties

Thanks for the reassuring words.

By the way, I keep wanting to write 'Damppanties' into every story, and you with such an innocent AV :D Don't what it is about those two words.

Keep an eye out for Manipulation, the young lady has exactly that problem.

What exactly is 'that' problem?

And please, feel free to mention damp panties in any story you want to. I already had an honourable mention in a story from one of my favourite authors on the site and quite enjoyed it. I'm sure I'll like yours too. ;)

As a matter of fact, yes, different genres are viewed differently. Non-consent, erotic horror, some incest (with non-consent themes), and stories that brush bestiality/snuff/necro will take longer.

The editor does not like to reject stories based on content. The general rejections come more from things like spelling, paragraphing, age, and punctuation issues.

The site does have rules about content, however, and what's not acceptable. How do you draw a line between rape fantasy and rapist fantasy? Does the quality of writing come into play? When is death acceptable?

If your story is sitting around the line of acceptable and unacceptable content, the editor will take time to consider it fully before your story is approved or disapproved in order to maintain fairness in rejection procedures and give the greatest opportunity for a story to be published.

Apparently, there's also tricky to get an illustrated true story about a male stripper posted...:(

Svenskaflika

You should have put a fig leaf over it, then he wouldn't have been recognised.

Good lord, Flicak, you submitted that story? Did Raphy approve, does he know?

Perdita :D

Apparently, nudity is not allowed in the illustrated stories...

Could someone please give me a pointer to where it says this in the FAQs? :(

Or, is this just another "Old Uncle's Tale"

No, P, not THAT one. I haven't written that one yet. This is about a male stripper that picked me up at a nightclub.

And instead of a fig leaf, he's got a bright orange thong. Perhaps that's what stopping the story - Laurel has to get it passed the Fashion Police first.
