could live comfortably with European interest rates on a permanent basis?

Pretty scary question for Brits looking at the Euro.

I sure would hate to see one currency for North America.

This is part of the UK's problem with the Euro currency.

Traditionally, we have always had higher interest rates than the rest of Europe. I believe the Irish, having entered the Euro, are already experiencing this problem.

The Euro currency is inevitable, despite what some politicians might say out loud. What worries a lot of people is how we control inflation when the biggest tool for doing so is taking out of our control. Maybe their is an economist on the GB that can tell us.

As for North America, I cannot for one moment imagine the USA allowing itself to be tied to someone else's coat tails.
