Are braids a black thing?

I find it very hard to believe that braids are a black thing. How could tying long hair be a black thing? White people had long hair, too. The Vikings braided their hair. What the hell is going on that we need to argue about how to do our hair? It’s crazy

I had very long hair growing up. Very long. My mum used to buy expensive hair oil from the weirdo shop and I used to sit there and try not to complain. Hair down to my knees. She would spend a day and a half braiding my hair and not once did I ever think it was a black thing.

I had a Mexican girl braid my hair. It bugged me so much
that as soon as I got off the flight home,
I ripped that crap out.

A woman at work copped a bit of shit yesterday for having her hair in a Dutch braid style. Silly. Box braids, Dutch braids, cornrows whatever. I know a lot of the girls have it done for dance.
