A sandy landscape.

From afar, the land seems to shimmer like wave of golden silk. The moon rises and with it comes the bitter cold of night.

Inside the small bustling town that is nestled amongst the sand dunes, stalls close as merchants collect their wares together and count their profits for the day.

The town is called Bagdhad. It is run by a prince who won his position by the sharpness and speed of his sword. Trading is what keeps the town alive. The amount of varied goods from many lands all find their way here, the centre point of profits so they say.

Vixen leans idly against a palm tree. She's dressed in simple feminine attire. A tight navel revealing bodice of deep lavander which emphasizes her bossom. Her almost see through volumous pants rest on her hips revealing her curvey figure. Her face is hidden behind pale purple gauze. The effect is striking and exotic. Her warm brown eyes flash with mischief as she watches the people of the night fill the market place. Her long silky dark hair is twisted up high apon her head, with a pony tail that falls to a point between her shoulder blades.

She takes a deep breath, enjoying the remenants of the warm dessert air. She walks over to a nearby camel and strokes it's long neck as it chews on it's feed. She pretends to be inspecting it, but in actual fact she is waiting for someone, she's not sure who, her assignment was to pass on the scroll she had been given along with 3 gold pieces. Her warm eyes gently, carefuly took in the market area, now rapidly becoming empty. She saw two night patrol men hurrying the merchants along. "Damn" she thought to herself. Slipping into the shadows so as not to be seen.

Abdusalim saw the girl easily, she could be seen from afar, her dress catching the attention of any hot blooded man, and Baghdad was full of them, like him, for example. She had the scroll he had been contracted to get. This was a double blind, as he himself didn't know what was in the sealed scroll or who really wanted it. There where rumours saying the scroll was meant to reach Saddam Ussin's hands, he, the dreaded lord of the Baghdad underground. He chanted a small prayer to avert evil.

The tall man that approached Vixen was dark, with deep black eyes, long black hair flowing freely over his shoulders. His dark skin was sun-tanned by the dessert sun. His strong arms where bare, as he wore a plain sleeveless leather armour, a big scimitar hanging at his side.

"I think you are waiting for me, my pretty desert rose." Said Abdusalim as he bowed and did the typical triple hand movement of the salute.

Bella:

She stared up at the starry night sky, wondering how she was going to receive the scroll. Her brother had ordered her to her room when she had embarassed him in front of his emassaries. Her brother, the prince, was cruel and held his position through fear. It was one of his greatest weapons, that and his sword. He scared her. He stared at her in ways no brother should. But then she was just his step-sister. Her mother had met the king when he had come to Europe. The king had decided her mother was someone he would marry and poof, she was moved to Baghdad. A tear rolled down her cheek at the thought of her mother. She and the king had died on one of their diplomatic trips. So, she was left, in Baghdad, a place she didn't belong and didn't fit in. Her hair was a dark blond and her eyes were a bright blue-green, unlike most of the dusky beauties who lived here.

She wanted to go home. She didn't like not fitting in. So, she had gone to the one man who could help her. Saddam Ussin. He really wasn't so bad, not to her anyway. He seemed to have a soft spot for her. She was to meet him tonight, so he could tell her how she would get home. She wasn't supposed to, but she was going to sneek out of the palace, just like when she had first arrived. It was the only way she could get home.

"Ahh, its a nice night, isn't it Abdul?" I said to my monkey friend sitting on my arm. "A nice night for getting into trouble, no?" I smiled as I walked down the semi-busy streets of Bagdhad, watching the people returning to their homes after working at their shops. I was dressed in loose fitting clothes, that allowed for easy movement, but still showed off my toned body. I was small, but still strong. And anyway, being small did have its advantages...

As I was walking past a dark alley, I heard something from within. Invistigating, I ventured into it. A large man was standing in the shadows and stepped out when he saw me. "Saddam Ussin would like to see you," he said softly, but forcefully.
"Ahh, I think you have the wrong man," I said, as I started to turn to run away. No one in their right mind would want to see Saddam, especially when asked. Unfortunatly, two more men had come from behind and cornered me. "You are Hassin the Shadow, no?" one asked.
"No, no, that is my brother. I am Hassin, the Average. You would not want me." With that, I threw Abdul at the thug on my right and sprinted past him. My monkey clawed at his face for a second and then came back to me at my call. I ran down the street, looking for some way to elude them. I knew this night would be a good one...

"Where is that scoundrel, why have they not brought that street rat to me!" shouted a very disturbed saddam ussin.
He stood to his feet and threw his bejewled goblet across the room. It clanged against the wall sending wine splashing on the floor.
"They are in the process now your greatness" said a large bald arabic man.
"If they don't bring me Hassin, there will be hell to pay!"
Ussin sat back down on his large golden chair.
A young lad dressed in ratty clothes suddenly ran into the room,
"Your greatness, the woman Vixen is exchanging the scroll as we speak. Your 'friend' should be receiving it shortly"
Ussin waved his hand and a beautiful woman stepped from behind his massive chair. She made her way to the boy that was bowing with his face on the ground. She reached down and gently lifted his chin. From the pouch on her belt she pulled two gold coins and placed them in the boys hand.
"Oh bless Allah, thank you Your Greatness, may your kindness to me and my family be paid back a thousand fold!"
the boy exclaimed.
A large smile came across Ussin's face."Fair pay, for fair work, now go, and give my love to your mother"
"Only a matter of time now" ussin thought to himself.
"Mulek, come" the large bald man with the huge scimitar at his side stood towering over ussin.
"I'm going to need to talk with the desert witch...bring her to me"
Mulek bowed his large bald head and turned and left the room.
Ussin waved his hand again and everyone left the room.
He made his way to edge of the balcony off his control room.
His eyes wandered over city. From his palacade on this large hill just outside of the city he could see the whole town. He let his mind begin to wander and think back over his time here in Baghdad. He was known as a tyrant, evil, powerful, someone you never double-cross. If people really knew who he was...well none of what he had would be here.
He learned very quickly that manipulation, fear, bribing were what brought things to you. But he was tired...he was ready to be done with this life. This was not who he was, the evil man he had portrayed for the last 12 years was beginning to take root inside of him and that disgusted him. He found himself doing these things naturally instead of for a means to and end and that bothered him greatly.
He needed out, it may mean that a few more weeks of evilness would have to be dealt out...but to be normal...to be who he was...there was no price to great.

I ran through the streets, sidestepping my way around the various carts and stalls that lined the alleys. Abdul was on my shoulder as I ran, and he was screeching in excitement. My mind was racing as well. What does Ussin want with me? Where can I go now? How did he find me? I force these questions out of my mind and concentrate on eluding my followers.

I duck into a doorway and run up the steps to the roof. I get up in time to see the goons enter the building, so I quickly jump across to the next roof, and lower myself down to a clothes rope that is hanging over the street. I let myself drop just as a large cart of vegetables goes underneath me, and am able to cover myself up enough to be seen. Abdul followed me, of course, so I allow my self to just lie back and rest for a second. I wonder where this cart is going?...

the Entrance of an old friend.

Bella:

She dressed herself as a harem wench, covering her face with a veil of a midnight blue to match her costume. Grabbing her cloak she climbed down from her balcony and landed in the tree with a thud. It had been so much easier when she had been young. Creeping through the garden and out into the alley behind the palace, Bella threw on her cloak and ran as fast as she could, her legs carring her away from her "home". She had to find Saddam, he was her only hope for leaving Baghdad.

She avoided as many people as she could, knowing that Baghdad was not the safest place to be at night, especially for a woman. Every corner seemed to look the same. Bella had no choice but to admit to herself that she was lost. She stamped her foot in frustration not knowing what to do or which way to go.

A strong hand clamped over her mouth, muffling the scream that had been about to come out. "I know just the place to take you." a voice rasped in her ear. "I'll get me a good price just from the feel of you. He'll enjoy you on sight and pay me good he will." Bella was so upset, she didn't have the good sense to be afraid. Who was he? and how dare he buy her?

Vixen smiled to herself. The smile flashed in her warm brown eyes as she took in the majestic figure before her. If this wasn't a job, she thought to herself, she could be very tempted indeed.

However, there was the formalities to be taken care of first. She leaned close to the man as he straightened from his elegant salute. "Ahh, Sir... such charming words for this simple woman," Her brown eyes looked deeply into his darker ones, "but even a simple woman knows better than to accept such smooth talk from a total stranger... "

He could smell the sweet scent of her perfume, she smelt of the very dessert rose he had used to compliment her. Her smooth honey coloured skin was tanatalisingly close to him and he could just make out the sweet curve of her cheek beneath her veil before she turned to stroke the camels neck again. In the process she managed to reveal the smooth curve of her lower back and the toned strength of her shoulders. "It's a warm night, one wonders if across the dessert the palm trees feel the same..."

She spoke the first half of the cryptic code message that would prove to her that this was indeed the man she was meant to meet.

Abdusalim finished the coded message, but changing the pronunciation of one of the words to have a more poetic meaning, and double entendre also.

"The loneliness of palm trees in the desert is broken when they are lovingly caressed by the swift southern wind." Said abdusalim in a mellow voice. "We'll probably see that soon, if we are lucky we ourselves will be immersed in the southern wind's loving and warm embrace. Maybe then we wont be so alone with ourselves..."

He scanned around their location, something made him nervous. His hand went to the pommel of his scimitar, but except for that gesture he remained completely calm.

"We should get moving, my lady, such a lovely gem can be easily spotted when it stays besides a plain rock." He finished as he looked intently at her eyes.

Rei: i waited silently for them to do somthing. my knives were as sharp as ever. but i decided to bring them out just in case. i had a special set of Dragona Knives witch were very fancy and very expensive. but they had flame powers in them. i also had a few other tricks up my sleve. hmm it looks like their moving i better follow em.

Vixen smiled at the man. She was impressed. His words were a little flowery, but it took a harder heart than hers not to be affected by them.

She nodded and blushed prettily and was grateful that her veil hid the flush of her cheeks. She allowed him to guide her down the small alley way which would take them to one of the few drinking establishments that managed to avoid the curfew. She felt his warm hand against the small of her back and it felt, strong, confident. No wonder she was so distracted she thought. She only realised after they had walked several meters that they were in fact being followed. Her body tensed suddenly, and she cursed inwardly for allowing herself to be so careless. Abdusalim was obviously much more alert than her she thought to herself and this was confirmed when he lowered his head to whisper. "Is everything okay my rose? You seem tense?"

She smiled softly. Such a gentleman she thought, but she had to focus! "No, nothing is wrong, it's just a little frightening walking around at night, I don't often break curfew you know..." she said sticking to her sweet innocent lady facade which more than once had saved her when she was in a tight spot.

Rei: she almost had me there. shes as good as they say. and almost better. they just went in to the Smokey Genie bar. not a bad establishment. they also had a contest that said one of their bottles had a genie in it. no one has found it yet but it is real contest. i decided to walk in there with my knifes away. i walked into the establishment to be greeted by the barkeep. witch i had saved on numerous occasions.i picked a table as close as i would allow in order to over hear their conversation. i was waiting for my moment... i signaled the barkeep to be ready as i might get rough here in a minute. he took the hint and started to warn some of the guests who didnt approve of this sort of thing.i recived my drink and carefully listened in to their conversation...

"The stale air in this tavern brings the smell of trouble. I see you are ready and able ..." said Abdusalim in a relaxed way.

Vixen considered the man beside her thoughtfully, he was clearly relaxed, yet she could sense he was more than ready for anything. "The stale air in this tavern brings the smell of trouble. I see you are ready and able," he said calmly.

Vixen smiled and her eyes glinted with suppressed excitment. She lived for nights like this. Her gaze carefully swept over the bar and it's occupants. She noticed the bar tender carefully whisper words to a few of the customers who quickly paid for their drinks and got up to leave. She kept her face carefully blank and allowed the man with her to lead her to a relatively quiet table in the corner. "What would you like to drink?" He asked with a very attractive smile.
"Cider would be nice."
"Bar Keep!" His voice carried easily over the general hubbub of conversation. "A cider for the lady and an ale if you please."
The bar tender nodded in response and Abdusalim turned his attention back to Vixen.

As they sat and waited for their orders Vixen took the time to inspect her companion more closely. Abdusalim. He had made quite a name for himself. Vixen was unsure as to how much of what she heard was true, she was only relatively new to the intricate underworld that existed in Baghdad. She did know that it was probably wise to pass on the "package" before any trouble started. Thus, Abdusalim felt a warm petite hand brush against his thigh underneath the table. Even Abdusalim was a little surprised at how easily she slipped the scroll into his boot. If he hadn't been expecting something of the sort he was sure she could have planted almost anything on him.

Vixen unclipped her face veil. Being as they were indoors and she needed to drink soon. Abdusalim corrected himself. She was stunning, if she used all her charms, even expecting something he wouldn't have noticed anything but her smile. Vixen did indeed smile, and it held only a hint of the mischief she was truely capable of. Finally the bar tender placed their drinks on their table and Abdusalim placed the appropriate coin into the man's outstretched palm. Vixen noticed, he was generous, tipping considerably. She smiled, liking him even more. She rested her chin in her hand and openly observed him.

Rei: there, she just made the drop, time to move in. i gave my signal to the barkeep and he hurryed to make his move. he went over to them with their drinks and said. "People in the bar! this young lady is my millionth customer! and so she is entiteled to a large prize of 50 gold peices!" he brought he to the middle of the room and handed her the bag as she was looking quite excited. perfect now for my part. i quickly got up and saw the young hanchmen getting ready to leave and was quickly behind he with y dragona knives out and at his back.
"going somewhere abdusalim?" i made sure he recognized my voice.
"now hand over that letter and i might consider letting you live...."
he was mentaly shaken but not visibly.
i quickly bent down and too the letter from his boot.
"you can thank ussien for me abdusalim. now get out of here gutter trash!" i quickly shoved him out of the entrance and motioned the barkeep to bring her to me.
the barkeep said to vixen
"if you will please come with me for a moment young lady there is someone i want you to meet."

Bella:

The big ogre who had grabbed her, dragged her along while she kicked and struggled, but it was no use, he was just to strong. He hauled her into a bar and came to a stop. Bella looked around, trying to see if there was anyone who would help her. All that she saw was a beautiful young woman, a few men and some type of creature that looked to be half man and half tiger. She sunk her teeth into the hand over her mouth.

"Ouch! You little wench!"

"Let me go! Help! Will one of you be kind enough to help me?!" her voice was more of a screech, making everyone wince. "WELL? Are you just going to stand there or are you going to help me?"

Damn im good

Rei: "shit" i mumbled to myself. quickly and without warning i did a double backflip to the door. i flashed out my Dragona knives and with grim accuracy Nailed the orge's head to the wall.then with lightning speed i recovered the knives and got back to abdusilim . total time, 10 seconds. heh heh heh... just too easy

The cart stopped behind a bar, and I quietly got out and melted into the shadows. Based on the screams coming from inside the bar, I knew something was happening. I went in the back entryway and was able to see some commotion from the front room. It seems that someone had been stabbed through the head and some weirdo that was half animal was walking around like an idiot and baring his knifes. This might be interesting...

In an outskirt village off from Baghdad, life was normal... until someone spotted a large caravan... of English horses. All of these were war mares, and many knights were perched atop. When the caravan stopped in the village, the mayor demanded to know who they were. When they said they were from a European country and their leader's name was Lokken(from a bold ne world and king and country) he suddenly offered them lodging. After a closer inspection of their armor, he noticed it was completely black, didn't let you see their faces, and had the sign of the dark god of death.
They declined and moved in the general direction of Baghdad. The mayor instantly dispatched a swift envoy to the prince to tell him about these strange people. After the last of the knights though, came rank upon rank, column upon column, of black armored infantry and archers.

Vixen was angry. She brought down her heel on the barkeep's foot causing him to release her arm. She spun around quickly and delivered another kick to his chest pushing him away from her. She landed softly on both feet and glared at the stunned barkeep. "Don't you ever lay your hands on me again, understand?" She growled her voice was steel.

She turned to the young woman who had been dragged into the place by the now bloody remains of the orge. She looked, strange somehow. With quick hands Vixen whipped off the veil and saw that the girl was quite pale and fair. She thought about this for a moment. "Who on earth are you?" Vixen asked as her mind tried to connect her to the strange inkling she had that she was familiar.

"As for you, you tiger freak... that particular piece of paper was damn hard to acquire, I'll thank you to return it to me immediately." Vixen stood by Bella and the two women faced the barkeep and the Rei suspiciously.

Bella:

She was a little stunned, everything happened so fast. One minute she was being held and the next the man was dead and the beautiful desert flower had whipped her veil from her head, revealing the fact that she didn't quite belong in Baghdad.

"My name is Bella," even her name didn't fit in here, "and I thank you all greatly for your help. Now, if I could ask one more favor. Would you mind telling me where I can find Saddam Ussin? I must find him..." she trailed off at the stunned looks everyone was giving her. "Is something wrong?" Bella looked to the other woman for an answer.

Vixen looked at her in stunned disbelief. "How do you know the Lord of the Underground?" She asked Bella in surprise.

Bella looked at her confused. "Lord of the Underground? Don't be silly," she tried to smile hoping the woman was joking. Vixen's gaze remained serious and Bella looked away thinking perhaps these people were all crazy. She looked around hoping to find some way to escape.

Vixen shook her head thoughtfully trying to figure out what was going on. How did a simple errand turn into this? She wondered. She glared at the strange half tiger half man. He still had the scroll and she knew her life would be short lived if the finger was pointed at her for a job incomplete. However, she had done her part, having handed it to Abdusalim. She looked at the locked door Rei had shut after he pushed Abdusalim out. The barkeep was eyeing her maliciously clearly keen to get his own back for the kick to his face.

A darkly cloaked figure entered the bar, he was dressed in jewel studded ebony armor. On sight of the ogre, he simply kicked it away. Then turning to the tiger-man, he asked," Do you know where I can find the prince? I am Lord Lokken(he's back!) from the land of Taros in Europe."
