Apple Purges Erotic Content

It's about time: there's too much preoccupation with sex and not enough with the fundamental values that the founding fathers espoused..................

Which founding father?

Was that the one who kept young boys for his pleasure or the one who had sex with most of his slaves?

Or was it the one who (allegedly) had two wives?

Or...

nm.

Both of them and all the rest whose exploits are tea party legends and the stuff that Zeb, TE, AmiCoot, JimBillyJoe and the balance of true patriots on this forum idolize, along with Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney, and Bozo the Clown.................We need to pay more attention to the constitution, not read it, no, but pay attention to it.....
If we could read, that would mean that public school did it's part and public school is part of a socialist conspiracy along with health care, traffic lights, women's rights and jello......

Well I have to agree with jello... it's just all kinds of wrong in so many ways...

I like you, Dragonlipz. :rose:

Saw that. It's all part of Apple's natural growth cycle.

1. Make cool, innovative stuff that creates a buzz and gets people excited.
2. Attempt to 'wall off' and control every aspect of their cool toys once they get market dominance.
3. Shrink back to tiny slice in the market when nearly everybody, sick and tired of their control freakery, deserts in droves to competitor's knock offs.

So, what's the effect on eXcessica books?

Hard to say. I haven't seen Apple numbers yet and can't see Apple's iBookstore because I don't own a Mac or a iPad. I know about 280 of our titles are there - (we're going through smashwords) and we're working on finding out why the others aren't up yet. But that's about all I know, unfortunately. Apple is a very closed system!

No one can delete the erotica stacked on my shelves, nor edit it.

Is that the munching of mice I hear? Or maybe just the crackling of a house fire.

Ah, no, it's the crunching of the footsteps of the smut-purging Aunt Agatha visiting unexpectedly.

My aunts were broad-minded enough to write erotica.

My eldest aunt was a Suffragist and supporter of Marie Stopes.

My books would have been safe from them.

Mice? My cats like mouse snacks.

Fire? That could destroy electronic devices too.

I was too busy staring at her legs to comment. My tongue was too hard.

Thanks, Carl! Sorry, I started this thread and then came down with a nasty bug that turned into pneumonia... damned germs...

But thanks for letting me know! (and congrats on your iPad success... Kindle too! You go, guy! ;))

What I dislike about electronic reading devices compared with books is

1. the content isn't transportable to another device or computer,

2. the device itself and its recording system is likely to be superseded by another one in a few years. As an example I have speeches (for recording media that has a very limited capacity) and book readings on 78 rpm records, 33 rpm records, 16 rpm records, reel to reel tape, cassette tape, CD, MP3 and DVD. Other recording methods were used but I don't have cylinders nor dictaphone discs or spools.

3. they require a power source, and

4. they will wear out much faster than books.

The oldest book I own now is early 17th Century. The oldest book I've ever owned was mid 16th (1545). The oldest writing I've handled was 1215. The oldest text I've ever been able to read? A Latin inscription from the 1st Century AD inscribed on a stone in a local museum.

I love books. I have a nice collection going and keep adding to it whenever I can.

I like e-book format because I like the ability to carry more than one book without it killing my shoulders or having use a pull-case.

I might argue, Ogg, with your first reply. I have a number of them that go between computers and devices. I'm not sure where that came from but I have the same audiobook and the same e-books on at least four different devices....

On some recent "readers" all you will have bought is a licence to download the book to one, two or three devices. Beyond that - you are breaching copyright. Reselling it? Breaching copyright again.

I can leave my library to my children as I have inherited some of it from my parents and grandparents. I can sell any book, lend as often as it comes back and even give it away. If it is old enough I can even reprint it because it is in the public domain.

Try doing that with an Apple download.
