Appeals Court Overturns New Jersey Sanctuary Law Shielding Illegal Aliens from Detention

John Binder22 Jul 2025

An appeals court has overturned a New Jersey sanctuary law that attempted to ban state and local agencies, as well as private contractors, from partnering with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain illegal aliens in detention centers.
The decision states:

“[T]he National Government is, and must be, controlled by the people without collateral interference by the States.” Because New Jersey knew that it could not openly bar the federal government from contracting to detain immigrants, it instead eliminated everyone with whom the federal government might contract within its borders. It asks us not to notice the federal elephant in the room. Yet we can see the law for what it really is, “claiming the authority to dictate the manner in which the federal [immigration] function is carried out.” Letting states do that would “chang[e] totally the character of” our federal system by “transfer[ring] the supremacy, in fact, to the states.” The U.S. Constitution is supreme, and intergovernmental immunity protects that supremacy. New Jersey’s law directly regulates the federal government, so it is unconstitutional as applied to CoreCivic. We will affirm. [Emphasis added]

More winning for Americans and more losing for the Left.

Democrats benefit from an estimated 40 additional seats in the House of Representatives due to the inclusion of illegal aliens in Census population counts, a distortion of representation that grants political power based on non-citizen presence rather than eligible voters. This undermines the principle of equal representation by inflating apportionment in states with large illegal populations, contrary to the spirit, if not the letter, of the Constitution. This is another reason why they wanted Joe Biden to flood millions upon millions of illegals into the country so they could be protected by unlawful Sanctuary Cities and blue state governments and illegally inflate their political power.

Bro can illegal aliens vote?

This is not a win for America. This is a loss for us all and can only lead to an increase in crime. I don't understand how anybody can even TRY to spin this as a win.

Shut up moron.

Round those bastards up and ship'em out. They can commit all the crimes they want...............in another country.

Rounding them up really isn't plausible but lets say that it is. In the meanwhile why do you want people to get hurt and commit more crimes? Make it make sense.

That's not his point Chino. His point is that police should check immigration status when they arrest some one. It takes some of the pressure of ICE to do their job. So you're missing his point.

My point is that if police start doing this good people, legal citizens, legal immigrants and illegal immigrants alike will not call the police if there is trouble. I'm fairly certain there is no city that is all of one or another of these groups. I doubt there are even cities that are evenly split but I'm sure there are plenty where it wouldn't be in their best interest to call. Lets set up a hypothetica.

Mary is a legal citizen born here. Her father Juan is a legal permanent citizen but didn't get his citizenship which many don't. Maria is here on a Visa that she renews as needed. Finally Jose is an illegal who is staying with them. With me so far? Good.

Juan is a mean drunk and is beating the crap out of Mary and she's covering it up at school. Maria is scared her visa will be revoked, Jose is afraid he will be caught if he calls the police because when the police come they are often going to question everybody and that's under a pussy like the Deporter in Cheif Obama. Things are different now under King Trump.

With the above data which scenario do you think is best?

a) Juan and/or Maria call the police. Its the right thing to do.
b) Let it go on. Mary will be old enough to leave on her own soon and neither wants to return to Planet X (Chosen because I'm trying to go into the politics of each country. Fucking conservatives love to do that shit.)
c) Take care of it themselves.

I know which one I want the most. I know which one I would do. And I know which one I hate but could happen.

Now we know crimes happen in all neighborhoods. This was a simple family matter but cars get stolen, assaults happen yadda yadda. I've been told that when a community doesn't trust the police they form groups to take care of their neighborhoods. They get uniforms so they are easily identified by others in their group. I think the Founding Fathers would have called them Militias or at least modern Conservatives think they would. In reality Militias were meant to be something the government could call on and mobilize because for various reasons I don't feel like going into the FF didn't want a standing army.

There is another word we use to call groups of people in a neighborhood enforcing their own laws. . .clubs. That's word I'm looking for.

they are failing at it due to poor planning and hatred of people of

Bro immigrants even illegal ones commit less crimes by percentage than legal criminals.
So why import more crime on top of the crime already being perpetrated by legal criminals? Doesn’t make since.

My mans no one is importing anyone. Illegals can't vote and whether you like it or not they have a right to due process as plainly started by the country's founders.

That “40 extra seats for Democrats” claim doesn’t hold up under the slightest scrutiny.

If you strip away undocumented residents from the census count, credible estimates show a shift of maybe 2 to 3 House seats, not 40. That’s not speculation—it comes from independent studies and even conservative-leaning sources like the Center for Immigration Studies.

The Constitution (14th Amendment) requires the census to count all persons, not just citizens. That’s been upheld by multiple courts, including during Trump’s own attempt to exclude undocumented immigrants. The Supreme Court said no.

Also, it’s not just blue states that benefit from population counts. Texas and Florida—both red states—have large non-citizen populations that boost their House representation. You can’t call it a Democrat plot when it helps Republicans, too.

[Trump is demanding Texas redraw its gerrymandering map to gain an additional five to seven seats before the next election, and the governor has called a special session to accommodate his demands. Talk about disenfranchisement of voters!]

And the idea that Democrats are "flooding the country" to rig House seats through sanctuary cities? There’s no data supporting that. It’s a talking point, not a fact. If it were a coordinated scheme, someone had forgotten to factor in the census math.

Let’s keep the skepticism, sure—but aim it where it belongs: at shaky claims, not at the facts.

Interference by activist judges will do that.
"activist judges" is played out. don't you have a new catchphrase that is totally irrelevant to the current climate?

the multitudes of failures by this administration is "like nothing anybody has ever seen before." 😁

No shit Dick Tracy, that's the point. That's the reason Biden didn't control the border, letting millions of illegals into our country, WHY? because they're counted *IN THE CENSUS* when they shouldn't be. The 14th needs to be amended. Illegals shouldn't be part of the representative body. IMHO
