Apparently, I don't live in the real world.

A strange thing happened today... My co-worker, David, and I were cleaning up when another co-worker, Angel, approched us. We all made small talk, and David asked Angel if she'd get him some asprine for a headache he had.

As she was walking away, David turned to me and said that she is cute. I said back to him, "Yeah, and she's a sweetheart too." He turned to me and told me that it doesn't matter if she's a sweetheart, she's a hot peice of ass. So I said to him that he was an asshole.

"Whatever, John, you're not living in reality..." He said to me. I asked him if fucking her was the only thing that was important to him... in so many words, he said yes.

So she came back with the asprine and he decides to make me look like the bad guy and tell her I called him an asshole. She wants to know why, so, after a little prodding, I tell her why. Now he's pissed off at me for telling the truth!

Who's living in the real world again?

reality is relative

Already knew that; this isn't one of my philosophical threads, it's just one that's bitching about everyday life.

I hope you don't have self doubt due to that conversation. Hey, his real world isn't the place for you. Big deal. Your world suits you just fine, darlin. :)

Yeah it does; especially because it has  you  in it. ;)

Reality ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Jim Henson adds: Avoid it like hell.

Not the point. *Shrugs*

How are you tonight, hon. :)

I'm wonderful tonight, how are you, dear?;)

It may not be your point, but it is a point....might you tell me your point? :)

More philosophical spewings? Why is it I can get people to talk philosophy when I'm just whining about life, but when I try to get people to talk philosophy, everybody just wants to whine about life?

*Sigh* 'sokay. Just kind of humorous... that's all. :)

you asked a question. people are responding to it. for future reference, you shouldn't ask a philosphical question when you're not interested in what people have to say.

next time end your post with something that will get the condolences you desire, such as "i need a hug! *sob*"

Better, now that you're here... :)

My point? Well, he's being an asshole and I'm kind of ashamed to be the same gender and sexual orientation as he is because he's such an asshole... too many assholes in this world. *sigh*

I'm already over it.

Both knowledge and experience are real,
but reality has many forms,
which seem to cause complexity.

The Tao

I have no idea how this applies to you. lmao

Like an orange to a wall.

That's Zen, btw... you can quote that if you'd like. :D

Well, aren't you a sweetheart?;) Thank you.....

Yes, I agree with you, but you spoke of reality, not right and wrong, or opinions. The thing is, that is his reality, sad and lacking as it is.....and yours is yours. I like yours. :)

Uhhh, not you. The real world consists of many guys who give girls purely cursory glances and either file them away as "hot pieces of ass" or dismiss them as "If I had to's"

Is it nice and sunshine and pretty puppy dogs? No. Is it how you should react to women? Well, who knows. I won't deny that the only time my eyes ponder a stranger on the street is when it's a girl who hits certain anthropological sweet spots.

I mean his remark to you was obviously of the "Grunt, Grunt, Snort, Snort" Caveman type. There are three ways that the caring sensitive man can react to this.

Way 1: Agree and submit to the shallow, superficial world these men live in.

Way 2: Do what you did and essentially castigate him for his outlook on the fairer sex. I guess you win metaphoric points somewhere, it also makes you seem unbelievably annoying.

Way 3: The Johnny Cool method. Whenever a friend, brother, coworker would say something like that to me it would be met with a chuckle and shaking of the head. See it conveys my disagreement with the outlook without making me look like a PC crusader.

You seem to be a big fan of the Way 2 approach to life. Good for you. The world needs more crusaders. But forgive me if I file you away under the "Never, ever have a beer with" part of my brain. You just don't sound like the kind of guy who you could relax around.

There is reality and than there are social realities...the first you can create or be in harmony with yourself by contantly forging your own spirit...theother just sucks and the assholes rule....never forget that...

I'm not a crusader. He has the right to choose his own morality and I have the right to ridicule him for it if I disagree, just as he has ridiculed me for my morality.

As for your filing cabinet system of understanding other humanbeings, please refile me under "will never respond to again," especially if you are going to be so rude in your response. Have a nice day. :)

You have the right to ridicule him if you disagree with his morality? Boy, I guess you and the Rev. Phelps are right on the same page. I prefer to go through life without being a jerk to people who I disagree with.

Well, he seems to think he has the right to ridicule me... this isn't the first time he's told me I don't live in the real world.

I don't need to be a jerk towards people I disagree with, but apparently, you do.

But as to the general question. Well, whatever world you live in isn't the "real" world. many of us have to work or associate with people who we don't see eye to eye with. See, I work with a guy who strongly disagrees with the idea of Gay marriage. We've discussed this a few times, always cordially. I've never called him an asshole for the monumental crime of offending my liberal sensibilities. He's got an opinion, I've got mine. Whatever. You live in a childs world of name calling apparently. I live in the real world.
