This is a scenario where college students have to face an apocalypse together, not to mention maybe some staff and faculty.
The setting.....Hawthorne University, a land-grant college in the Midwest named after Nathaniel Hawthorne....recent home of Richard Papineau, a preacher's son with a strong desire to break free of his father's influence and morals....Kansas was far enough away from South Carolina, right? 3 years, 5 part-time jobs, 3 summers spent at school while others went on summer break, 6 scholarships, 7 Dean's Lists, 4 ex-girlfriends, 2 apartments, and 1 academic probation later, he was within 9 credits of making it, too....of reaching that magical Bachelor's degree in Education that would allow him to teach someday soon.
Oh, and naturally, he had a black belt in judo and yellow belt in karate by now. He was now by financial necessity stuck in a co-ed senior dorm with some 50 or so other students, only a handful of which had survived the Plague...probably due to natural immunity. What now? Within the past week, they had all did their parts to lay low and survive, but now the survivors would have to take stock and find each other....to see what they could....what they must do to rebuild civilization, or the last shreds of it.....
Such were Richard's thoughts as he started his first shower since the Plague.....hoping that the other survivors could be trusted.....
