AP headline: Iraqi Insurgents Battle Fiercely in Najaf

At last report, "Fiercely" claimed to be holding its own in what it termed, "A sacred struggle to defend the right of all adverbs to exist in the face of the ongoing 'adverbial genocide' being waged by revisionist, grammatical purists."

I don't know, Rumps, a little adverbial cleansing might not be a bad thing.

Perdita :)

I don't know why... but after reading perdita's post I have this sudden urge to play with my nipple :D

This Fiercely group is really annoying. What ever happened to the days when we had 'Blue Oster Clut' and 'The Electric Indians?' Those were names!

What many people don't understand is that radical adverbs are clearly in cahoots with verbs, which successive Presidents have openly declared war on: Drugs, terrorism and so on.
These verbs can be traced back to the middle of the last century with their insidious ways when the English speaking people of the free world declared war on want.

Wake up authors. The words are: revolting.

Gauche

P.S I'd just like to apologise for the disgraceful misapplication of a plural in the last sentence.

Apology or none, I think our in-house radical critic (i.e., arrogant communist) is muddying the grammatical waters and deflecting the intent of this thread via the old conspiracy theory ruse.

Wake up, Gauche! The only good left-wing metaphor is a dead one.
