Anyone who can help with regards to Child Law

I'm writing a Fanfiction piece that will include child abuse, its basically a Harry Potter story with various xovers, and one of the things that i wanted to do was include the law firm Wolfram and Hart.

In it, they will be asked by thw Watchers Council to site a 'law' thingy to help get Harry away from the Dursleys.

Yes it is about real child laws, about Child abuse, and abusive parents, this is not a story about writing child abuse or abusing children, as i beleive it is discgusting.

If it is fiction, why not make up the law to be cited?

Because i want the story to be as real as possible, concering the law that is.

Even if similar in intent, statutes in the US (and the various states) would probably differ in specifics, and certainly in the names of the statutes, from those in England. The same would be true, I suspect, for laws in Canada or in European nations.

Unfortunately, I don't. There are tons o' attorneys at the university where I'm employed but their expertise is in US or Latin American law.

I seem to remember a British writer's thread in the Author's Hangout a while back. If it's still active, perhaps there might be someone who is familiar with UK law over there?

Two under-16s messing around together will not usually be prosecuted, but an 0ver-21 with an under about 12 will get life imprisonment. There are exceptions, like the 15 y o currently charged with rape after his 12 y o girlfriend became pregnant after a drunken night out.

Sighs- Such is the fate of our world, but the guy could've called someone ie a woman to come over and help thus solving the problem

Basically what i want is to have Wolfram an Hart site a child abuse law against the Dursleys, but am unsure of how to do that

Hi blurred, don't know if this is what you are looking for but it may help in some way. As far as I know (being a UK resident) any child abuse case would need to involve Social Services in the UK and would need to be dealt with under the Children's Act 1989.
