Hi. I was toying with the idea of buying
Panasonic DVD Recorder w/120 GB HD.
Model DMR-E85HS. Is anyone using it?

I don't have DVR service on cable but have
digital cable. I was wondering what inputs
it has and if it creates DVD discs playable
on a standard DVD player such as Philips 724?
From what I understand the Philips won't play
DVD-R or DVD+R unless the recorder/burner puts
a file named Video_TS.VOB on the disc.

Any info on DVD Recorder with HD is
appreciated. :D

Thanks for the reply. I've read the descriptions available on the web from Panasonic and everything I can google. What I'm looking for are people's personal experiences. Some stuff just isn't included in the technical specs and marketing hype. :D

Then google for bulletin boards that deal with DVD's and tech stuff, you should find the answers to your question on one of them.

Believe me I pursue avenues of information simultaneously.
On a board like this often you find a lot of people who mess
with pictures video and computers. So I never know
when my question might be read by someone with the
particular snippet of info.

Sorry if you got the impression I didn't appreciate your reply. That's
not so. I appreciate it anytime somebody takes the time to post
a serious response trying to be helpful. :)

I'm new to this board but I got the impression this forum
was kinda' wide open... so I didn't think my question was
off topic. I'm often wrong though. It's part of learning for
me. :)

I am not saying you won't get an answer from this board about a technical issue with piece of electronic gear, but you are more likely to get a valid response from a tech board dealing with the item you want the info on.

There are people out here with knowledge about a whole host of subjects, which never touch the board and may interest a lot of the readers.

Keep bumping it back up the board and see if you get a technical reply. I hope you do get the info you want.
