Anyone out there speak French?

Hi all.

I am working on a story where one of the characters is a French girl, but I'm stumped on how to portray her language.

I need common terms of endearment for a young girl (this is a F/F story) and other random words that are common for young women to say...

Hello, SR. Here are a few.

"ma cheri" - "my darling"

"l'amour" - "love"

"Je t'aime" - "I love you"

"Je t'adore" - "I adore you"

"Tu est un femme tres joli." - "You are a very pretty woman"
(The "tu" instead of "vous" makes this a lot more personal and intimate)

"Ton bouche c'est tres joli" - "Your mouth is very pretty"

"Voulez vouz coucher avec moi?" - "Would you like to sleep with me?" (haha - straight out of the song 'Lady Marmalade')

"C'est combien le chien dans le fenetre?" - "How much is that doggy in the window?" (If you're doing a story requiring this phrase please remember to submit it to the extreme section. lol)

I'm not sure if my spellings are correct but I hope that helps to get you started.

Actually it's
my darling = ma chérie (if you're talking to a girl) or better = mon amour (for both sexes)
a casual, endearing term like "my pet" = ma poule (slightly ironical), mon chaton, mon poussin (diminutive)
you're a very pretty woman/girl = tu es une très jolie femme/jeune fille
your mouth is very pretty = ta bouche est très jolie
Just ask if you need more. Remember that é and è are not e

One of the major web pages had a translator section where you could go from language to language. I used it quite frequently when doing something in a language I don't know.

You have to be careful with automatic translators, though. Most would probably translate literally, and literal translations often lose the original meaning of the phrase.

I know some French, Red. I also have an excellent French/English dictionary that offers common phrases along with the translations. Ask me on MSN anytime. And I want to hear about this story!

Can someone please tell me how to type the accents??

Je vous demande pardon, Monsieur, there is at least one Frenchman here. There will be more "couleur locale" if a Gallic character says some words in good French (but if someone wants to write a story with a Chinese character, good luck to him

My point however is that there are few people who will understand almost anything other than a basic 'cherie'.

"une petite chatte" - literally a little cat - i.e, pussy
"cul" - anus
"langue" - tongue
"trou" - hole
