I rented some 75Mb the other day ($4.95 us per month) and i wonder how good they really are. i'm sure they all say they are the best but...

I've used XDrive, which seemed to work ok (I didn't use it extensively).

My advise is Don't Use "YDrive" which is by Yahoo! I downloaded it a few months ago and copied (repeat:COPIED) some files onto the YDrive, which works (like Xdrive) much like a network. I decided I didn't like/need it any longer and uninstalled the YDrive software. All the files I had copied to it DISAPPEARED from my hard drive. I know that seems strange, but trust me, it DID happen. :(

thanks for the reply/infromation MidnightAngle.

somehow i missed "yDrive" and it sounds like a good thing i did.

anyone else?

Although I don't use XDrive, I do remember reading some information about them going out of business on FuckedCompany.com. I'd be extremely cautious about storing important information there. The rumor has it that they've laid off 50% of their workers and have 45 days before they're bankrupt.

I know my friend had a less than stellar experience with online drive space through FreeDrive. She uploaded some files while she was having her hard drive repaired and came back to find that they had been deleted because they were too large to store in her space. She was not impressed to lose movie trailers that she had for some time.

As for me, I don't use online space....I've got a small drive that's only half full. I'm a pack rat everywhere else in life except at the keyboard ;)

for a few dollars more you can have a decent wespace, with domain name. For $100, you can buy a decent cd-recorder. Get a static IP, and you can have all the space you want.

I used Idrive while they were around, and it worked fine the few times I used the service, before tehy went under. I'm just glad I kept copies of everything on CD, just so I wouldn't have to worry anymore.

Lo

X-drive blows. They got me hooked on the service when it was free, then they started charging for it. I lost all my files when they ended the free service.

i have looked at xdrive a little closer. i can't tell if tell what's going on with them.

what i want some web space for is to upload some pictures and som programs so my inlaws in other cities can download them.

email sucks at this.

What about yahoo Briefcase, and Photo's for this? It's free, and they give you like 25-30 mb for each one, plus no limit to how many accounts you can open up. I think the file size limit is 5mb per file though.
