I have been having so much trouble with aol that i want to switch. But I don't want to get worse service than I already have. Help me out here, folks. Any other suggestions

Muchos thankos

Road Runner...that is all you need to know:) Best service I have ever had;)

I had Juno for a little while. Sucked. Big time.

Bit the bullet and got ATT Broadband... ;)

My friends mom uses Juno. She doesn't have any problems with it. But all she uses it for is emailing. I don't know that she surfs the net at all.

Not that this helps any.. LOL

$8 a month, no frills, good connection. Apparently, they don't have newsgroups, but I don't miss them.

If you go to www.google.com there is a groups tab above the google logo (I believe that's where it's placed) and you can easliy read the newsgroups using that. You can respond if you sign up, all you need is an e-mail and that's free. Also I know there was a site calle deja-news and I'm not entirely sure if it's still up and running. So if anyone out there has an ISP that dosn't support newsgroups there are other ways of reading/responding to them.

I still have a Juno.com e-mail address, but I dumped them as my ISP because their customer service sucks, They raise your rates without notice (based on usage), they cancel your service at their whim, and bunch of other problems I had with them. I didn't cancel the email address because it's free and reasonably reliable.

Juno offers a free internet level of service, but it involves a floating ad banner that obscures whatever you're trying to see, and a very limited amount of online time.

I recently dumped Prodigy becaue they were bought out/merged with SBC YAhoo! dial and the new software required refused to work on my system -- their customer service was significntly clueless and unhelpfull.

I found Intermind.net by using google to search for "ISP Provider Las Vegas" It turned up a bunch of local ISP providers that don't require anything other than the Dialup Networking that is part of Windows to connect, and a browser.

One of the sites Google turned up was ISPfinder -- a web site that has rating for tons of ISP providers and information on what services each offers with price comparisons.

I'd recommend you go with a local provider that doesn't require customized software -- using DUN to connect instead of Juno's customized program or Prodigy's Software is so much faster it's uncanny.

Going broadband with your local cable company or phone company's CAble/DSL isp is the best option for leaving AOL if you can afford the connection charges and modem rental.

Well, I've had the Juno Gold service for three years, and I'm happy with it. They've never raised my rates ($4.95/mo), and I'm rarely disconnected (like maybe once a month). I guess I'm savvy enough that I've never needed customer service.

The ads are easy to get past, and once I'm on, I go to a certain site that is too much for their browser to handle. Then I can shut it down without disconnecting, and continue with a different browser.

Anyone dumb enough to use that e-mail address gets what they deserve.
