renamed- i found a way to convert Quark files!

i used to have Quark, and an awful lot of my files are saved in that format. Now I DON't have Quark, and I can't open those files in word :(
but- I found that I could open them in my html editor, called pagespinner. There was a bit of garble, but easy to clean up- so, I have retrieved seven nasty little tales of queer love, wahoo!
All that typing wasn't in vain after all.....

If it's too gargly gooped, you could always send to me and I can convert them for you. I have Quark (unfortunetly.)

You guys are obviously not discussing fundamental matter particles so I will just hurry along, now.

I just knew you are my sexy Quantum Physics prof here at MIT.

You're outed babe.

Considering that I consider myself a feminist — sort of — why do I doubt your story about your sexy MIT Quantum Physics prof?

Ahh, thankees! The files were garbled because- i assume- I had one measly CD with my backups on it. And I had to run it through a resurfacer before it would read *eesh* so, there were repeated phrases, and outbreaks of bizarre dingbat-type symbols... Luckily the worst affected story, I had three versions, and I was able to piece everything together.
OOh, I am so excited at getting these stories in front of an audience! As I reread, I have to say- I am a damn good writer. Or, anyway, I was. Hopefully, I can prime that pump once more, with community support...

Are you just assuming because I'm a buff sex symbol, I can't be an MIT student? That's a bias isn't it?

That's actually going to help me out a lot when school starts. We design my student publication with Quark. Thanks!

A once well regarded Word Processing package.

Before the days of Microsoft packaging their apps together as Office, you used to have choice in which Word Processor or spreadsheet to use.

Dinosaurs roamed the earth then too. (sorry private joke)

Thanks. :)

As for the joke, it's a favorite of mine. I actually used it today...well, I used a variation of it.

Actually QuarkXPress is very modern...better than PageMaker by a long shot.

I stand corrected. I'd forgotten, it wasn't WP, but a layout app.

I just remember people loved it.

It's a soft wood-like material that winemakers stick in the opening of bottles to keep the wine from leaking out — but that isn't important now. . . .

A possible solution is to download OpenOffice. It is a FREE office suite from Sun Microsystems designed to replace MS Office.

OpenOffice

Unlike MS, Sun has tried to make its software as compatible with other files as possible.

I still use an old version of MS Office that will not open the newer MS versions, (yeah, believe it or not, MS wants to force us to buy their upgrades) but OO will open all the MS versions and convert them to my older version.

OO works with lots of different software files and may work with Quark. It is easy to install and uninstall and at least worth a try.

Thanks, Teach, I had forgotten about OO. The garble came from a slightly damaged CD surface, I think. Luckily, everything seems to be as I remember it, at least out of these stories

Quark is an excellent layout program. I am not using it right now and my "passport" license is expired. But I really don't know what I would use instead, if I went back to layout!

Quark...

*sighs and dreams back to days of youth, learning journalism, writing articles in Quark on iMacs...*

At long last, someone with an ego comparable to my own. Don't you just hate modesty?

Almost as much as I hate writers who don't care about their craft, or editors who are too lazy or too scared to edit.
Modesty is a costume, though. Sometimes it's useful- when the scene calls for it.

I have Quark 6. I have no use for it. I simply downloaded it because it was expensive as hell and I could...

I just noticed this in your sig. Pterry is my hero... And "Wee Free Men" is as good as anything he's written. And I haven't read "hat Full Of Sky" yet....

I'm sure you could download the OSX version just as easily.

He must well be your hero if you refer to him by his e-mail addy.
