A friend of mine asked me what I knew abou it or what side effects it may have.

Here is what she said.

there is this birth control called lunelle, its like a monthly shot, it has esrtogen and progesterone... not depo which is every 3 months and has only progesterone and can really fuck you up, do you know anyone who uses it?

Well...

I don't take it, but bein a nursey-nurse, I know some about it.

Yep, hormonal birth control that's a monthly injection. Supposedly not as many side effects as Depo, but all the hormonal side effect potentials are still there (weight gain, mood swing, etc). Actually, if you truly CLINICALLY look at these side effects and how often they happen, it is rare that it's attributed solely to the medication. It is usually more lifestyle/lifestress contributors, but I digress...

Many women experience cessation of menses (they don't bleed anymore) after being on it for a few months. Some women experience this after the first shot. Seems there are supposed to be less incidences of the breakthrough bleeding or constant spotting that can be attributed to Depo. For many women, no having a bleeding cycle is a great thing, although it personally would sadden me...but then I'm odd sometimes :)

Also, the estimated return to 'fertility' after stopping Lunelle is SIGNIFICANTLY quicker than what's reported with Depo. Depo can take up to a year...whereas they are quoting mere weeks for Lunelle.

That's all I can scrape offa the top of my brain for you Az, hope it helps :)

Mae
