Anyone have a story edit submission be rejected?

I've had a story edit submission sent back under the "we've detected AI" excuse.
All I've done was tighten up grammar and change some scenes so it flows better with the chapter after it.

Hope I'm not the only one who has experienced this =D

My first submission was kicked back three times. Basically my writing wasn't there yet. I shelved the story for nearly two years and started a new one with a beta-reader. It made a huge difference and I learned a lot.

I get that =) but this is an edit for an already existing story that's already been published =D it was sent back due to claims of AI detection, even though I had shifted some names and added a line or two of extra dialogue/action =)

I hadn't heard of it yet, but I figured it was inevitable. If you used Grammarly or some other GenAI to help with your edits, then that could cause the problem.

It sounds like you need to revert your changes and find a different way to get it done.

It was more or less inevitable. Editing anything is going to be rolling the dice. I wouldn't even count on putting it back exactly as it was surviving another run through the gauntlet. If the edit was rejected and the original is still live, I'd quit now while you're ahead, and prepare yourself for the probability that you're going to have to fight any subsequent chapters as well.

This is defeatist and unnecessary. If the original version passed but the new did not then the problem exists between steps A and Z.

Oh I fully intend to go through it all again if I must, no sense in giving up due to a one or two rejections, even if it is a name change or dialogue/action addition :)

This just shows how much of a plague AI is when it comes to content creators. Whoever among the grammarly team decided to have it write sentences needs to be smacked upside the head. As they really should have it for one function and one function only, to check grammar

But then users could just obviate the need for Grammarly by simply learning grammar.

Oh, wow. I'm sorry to hear this. I've been refraining from submitting edits for fear of the new reviews for AI. I've never gone near using AI, but it sounds like a bunch of others haven't either. Keep us posted.

What happened to your original story? Did it stay published?

I have had an edit reject one time. I did not know that stories had to be 750 words. It was rejected once. I made some edits and added a few things. It was rejected a second time. After pasting my text into a word count app, my story had 747 words, 3 short of the required 750. Okay. I added a few more details and it was accept then.
When your edit was rejected, did the original version stay published?

yeah, the story I'm attempting to edit is still up, that's the funny thing though, It went through in a week when I first submitted it for publication. It doesn't replace the original until it's been confirmed to be published.

Well, that's good to know. I won't risk losing my story on Lit altogether if they reject my edit. Anyone else have a different experience?

@AwkwardMD yes and no, I'll have to do an emergency edit again due to something that was brought to my attention via feedback. so for now i've placed the current pending edited chapter into draft, i'm still on easter break until 25th so i'll get to that asap. will let you know once i've placed it into edit pending once more =)

I use Grammarly to check grammar with every story I have published here, ignoring all other suggestions for changes. I have never had a problem with AI detection.

I've had two stories that were 100% HUMAN-WRITTEN (by me) rejected, claiming they were AI. I had to submit one of them FOUR TIMES!!!!
