Anyone got an extra Kidney?

I know this is a huge long shot. But hell, stranger things have happened on an internet chat board.

I have a friend whose sister is desperately in need of a kidney. Doesn't matter if it is the left or the right, either one will do.

She has O blood type so all that matters is that the donor is an O as well. I offered mine...but I am an A-.

She is 30 yrs old, lives in St. Louis and is on the waiting list for Barnes Hospital. She has been on dialysis(sp) for many years and is losing the battle quickly.

If you have ever thought about donating.....please do. Jules needs her big sister to grow old with her...not watch her be buried before she ever has the chance to be a mom or a wife or an Aunt.

There are other things that need to match besides blood type, I think. A couple of years ago, I had a cousin that needed a marrow transplant. I and my children summited samples and are regestered on a national doner data base (something that I believe everyone should do.)

Well, my sister has three kidneys and would probably be willing to donate but she has cirrohsis of the liver and is on a transplant list herself but good luck in your search.

I think for most organs it is but for kidneys it is dfferent.

I really hope a donor is found. I would be more willing to donate something like tat to a family member then to a perfect tranger. I would worry that If I gave one away, someone I know would need one.

However, I do donate blood, and would domnate marrow to people I dont know.
