I've been really enjoying yahoo answers for the last month. Just wondering if anyone else answers/asks questions there.

yes i have answered a couple of questions there about food/cooking, and have asked a couple relating to language translations. it is a very cool and handy little feature. but browsing the overall site a bit, you will come across more than a few completely stupid questions.

I got frustrated with the moron level there, and the fact that when I went to answer a question it had usually been locked out and a completely idiotic answer chosen as "best".

Yes, the stupid questions abound. I usually avoid them, but it's hard not to roll your eyes at the general level of under-education that seems to be rampant.

Just a little side brag, ETA: I just checked my email and found out I've been promoted to level 5 there. Holy Crap! :D

Yes! I've been on there for about two years now. I really like it, although I do prefer discussion style forums like those here. I mainly post in the Gender & Women's Studies section.

Yes, I've been on Yahoo Answers for a while. I replied a few Science and Math questions. Sometimes it looks very dumb. People ask very basic math questions.

hey, I"m totally checking that out...I love the chance to appear knowledgable!

Count me in, too.
Gardening and Horses are where I can be found.

I've answered a couple of questions about cooking, imperial/metric (come on people, how hard can it be to google??) and languages/translations. I never dared to venture into the more indepth questions, because I wasn't always sure if the asker was being serious or if they were trolling.

You have to get your troll-detecting chops before you go in there, because sometimes it's hard to tell.

Generally I just report the question and move on.

The one thing I hate about Y!A is the fact that the spam is absolutely OUT OF CONTROL there! OMG! It's like they haven't even tried to combat it.

It's nice getting voted best answer, though. The reward system is totally addictive.

I feel like I'm pretty internet savvy and know a troll when I see one, but Y!A often just leaves me clueless. Y!A is the place to go if you want to have a glimpse of human stupidity, but then again, at least some of the really idiotic questions must be genuine as well. It leaves me puzzled every time.

Some of them are truly hilarious.

"If I'm pregnant and the baby is a girl, if I have sex can the baby get pregnant?"

Not kidding.

Hey satin. I used to, but found that correcting level of ignorance took too long. I usually focus on medical, sex ed and gun safety topics...

Never heard of it.

I used to subscribe to the Usenet (then later, Internet) Oracle. The idea was to take a question and come up with the best (i.e. funniest) answer, rather than necessarily the most accurate answer.

Here's a link if you're curious: Internet Oracle: Best Of
