I just finished watching Failure to Launch, and it was funny and sweet and it pissed me the fuck off. *sigh* I think my divorce may have made me just a tad bit bitter. lol

I'm female, single and not divorced, so technically, I should absolutely love romantic comedies, right? Wrong! If I do watch it, it's almost always because I'm forced to, or it's one of the three that I secretly like.
However, give me a dumb action flick with a bunch of sweaty guys and a stupid plot line and I'm happy! :)

Maybe you needed rippling muscles and minial clothing ;)
Little girl, isn't it way past your bed time? I thought we discussed this. *hug*

I love dark comedies too... should stick to those in my Netflix queue.

It's far more healthier. I mean, do you really need to get an insulin shock from watching romantic comedies?

Some of them aren't tooo bad. It's just when they are so predictable and formulaic like this one... blech

Oh, yeah? Which ones (okay, besides the classics)?

See, you beat me to the punch. I was going to say Charade.

Oooh, good one! I was actually thinking about His Girl Friday and Some Like It Hot, but that's also good, if I remember it! I think I need to rewatch it!

I LOVE anything with Audrey in it.

I can't stand them. Anything that's called a so called "chick flick", I don't like. Give me good old horror any day.

*sigh* Tell me, why the hell don't they make movies like that anymore?
Every once in a while something great comes out, but not often.

And in the meantime, they're forcing overly sweet, uncreative, blatantly formulaic, stupid romantic comedies down our throats, right?

I hate romantic (non) comedies with the burning passion of 1000 suns. 99.9% of movies are 2 hours of wasted time, that I will never get back. Unless the reason I'm in the theater is to blow someone, while sitting in the back row. That's time well spent.

I agree, most of them are crap. Some are cute but I can't think of a good one right now..... maybe they all are crap. Or maybe I'm too cynical.

There are very few "romantic comedies" that I'll watch. I'm just not into chick flicks. One that I do enjoy, however, is Benny & Joon. Not sure if it's because it is more comedy than romantic or just because of Johnny Depp and Aidan Quinn.
