Figured I'd ask. Does anybody in the RPG forum here play 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons?

Tried it, like 3rd edtion better.

Turning every class into a spontanious spellcaster does not make a good game

I got the core. I feel that it is "balanced" to the point of being bland and prefer 3.5 or pathfinder. But I must admit, I had a brand new roleplayer for my 4th edition game and he picked it up much faster then people pick up 3rd edition.

Never played 4th but have played alot of 3rd and 3.5 and even some Modern. Use to have a few games on here and a few other sites. Would love to start up another..... Maybe a modern game they always seem to grab more attention and last longer.

Cool, I'll gladly take a look there!

Would anybody like me to set up an erotic or nonerotic DND4 game on here? I don't mind teaching rules and stuff too. I just love DMing and love 4e :)

Go for it. It might not get many people, but it should be good even if there is only a small handful.

Post the starting rules up and I will create one too. I havent played a game in quite awhile and would love to join. All we really need is 3-5 players and we already got two. The more people we have the slower the game runs waiting for people to post and the more chance the game will fall apart.

Looking more into this 4e there isn't any SRD's for it so not going to be able to create a real detailed character. I have found a lot of sites and documents that contain enough info I might be able to piece together a character but.... doubtful. Dont know if anyone can give me a hand if we do start a game.

Mechanically I like 4th. Third had huge balancing issues even with 3.5 or Pathfinder. Also it is very easy to pick up and let's people who would otherwise be afraid of it play with ease.

That being said, I hated it. Don't get me wrong, I did have my fun with it. A bard that spent his time insulting and torturing everyone, a warlord that pretended he never actually did anything and it was believable, and a paladin that was accidentally founding a mafia. Even still, everything felt so vanilla and there was very little I could do to improve what I liked doing with my characters out of combat. D+D is often criticized by some for being too combat oriented to the point it makes role playing difficult, but 4th just took it another step further.

Anyway, I saw this topic and had to rant a little bit.

I saw Puck and had to say awesome.

Yeah I kind of found it that way as well. 4th also has a stupid suggested role playing encounter system that I have met no one who uses. It is role imitative, highest initiative pick a skill, say something related, and roll that skill hoping to beat the dc, next person pick a different skill and repeat. DC and number of successes required are subject to dm's desires.

Thanks. I'm really glad none of my DMs ever picked up on that. I was annoyed enough by skill challenges. To chase this guy through the city you'll need acrobatics to dodge fruit carts, diplomacy to maneuver crowds, and perception to spot him before he gets away. It was something similar to that. I don't object to the concept of skill challenges just the way they are bound to be used when you name them.

Doesnt look like this 4e game is going to happen. If I had more time or my palm fixed I would gladly host a 3.5e game but I have no where near the time currently. I would love to play if someone can DM but..... who knows.

I understand... if you really are going to start up its going to be 4e? If so I do want to join but have found it near impossible to create a character without owning the books which I don't.

I have a 4th ed Players Handbook, if you want I could type up some of the specifics if you want. If you have a character type in mind. Give me a PM, I can help you out with (input secret here).
