Anybody else notice their telemarketer calls have STOPPED?

We have a "No-call" list in my state...I signed up for it, and the phone has been blissfully quiet...

I'd always say, "No-thanks, not interested", then hang up. One time a marketer called, and reading from the script.....I laid the phone down until I heard the familiar beeping....

After a few years, I would get really rude....then I started with the.."I'm very busy right now, perhaps if you would be so kind and give me your home phone number and I'll call you back at my convenience. Then we can discuss this wonderful opportunity at great length." For some reason, they wouldn't give me their number.....

Now, I enjoy my peaceful at home time without being hassled to buy some crap I wouldn't want anyway..

I forgot to sign up for that list-- and for some reason I always get called at 9:30 am-- that sucks.

It should be on the website for our state Chantal...There's a 1-800 number you can call...

It reminds me of the days when Jehovah's witnesses would knock on my door at 8am on a Saturday....

I always saw them walking down the street...I'd always answer the door in the baggiest bunhugger briefs I could find and nothing else....scratching my nuts while they tried to talk to me...then politely inform them I was Catholic....they couldn't get away fast enough....

Needless to say, they don't knock on my door anymore...

Its fun to freak those people out- and so easy.

I had a dfriend that was a total punk with chains and mohawk - He opened the door and screamed "WHAT!?" then he screamed "NO!" and slammed the door in their face.

Gee, thats ethical.

It made me feel a lot better. People don't have to be ass's. Most of them hate teir job more than you hate them calling. But it pays. They hire just about anyone. So if someone doesn't have a lot of work experience and getting turned down left and right for other places they get hired. They get paid. They can keep the place they live in, feed their family and pay all the bills.

None of that changes the fact that you are calling someones house who does not want to talk to you. They have every right to be angry and if they tell you that you turn around and use their phone number against them. Not only is that unprofessional its morally wrong.

I got 2 or 3 calls today from MCI, wanting to know...

"How many times are you gonna call me today, before you understand no?. Take me off your call list, please." uh, ok sir... click.

No I haven't noticed that they have stopped, not even slowed down although I wish they would.

When someone calls my house and I don't want them to I politely ask them to not call again. I don't flip out and start screaming like a loon at a person who is doing their job. That would be rather ignorant. I was only an ass to the assholes. Was defeniatly unprofessional and it was wrong. I'm not asking for forgivness either though so *shrug*.

Excluding Salvation Army, for clothing donations, I haven't had a telemarketer call in years. Not even one of those random numbered computer generated ones.

Purrde,

If your job is prank calling people then you are going to catch some shit. Do you ever wonder why anyone can be a telemarketer? Its because they are hated and catch shit. No mystery there. Deal with it like aprofessional or dont be a telemarketer.

You fucked up, dont try to defend it. Just admit it. And admit that calling people homes to pitch shit is going to get you yelled at.

Admit what? Something I already admitted to? I would make about.. 500 calls a day. I would get yelled at about 3 times a week. Could be because I didn't sell anything. Who knows. I don't really care though. I didn't then and I don't now. And since I no longer work as a telemarketer I still don't care. However you may continue with the moral lesson.

The only lesson is that prank calls are bad. Whether you get paid to do it or not is unimportant.

I only posted because, frankly, your actions surprised me.

We all have our bad side. ......... I'm not going to spend the rest of my life dwelling on it either. No point in it.
