I'm considering writing a story for this site (YAY!). It will be a 2-person story, heterosexual, no real kinks or BDSM themes. Probably just a couple with an extremely erotic evening...

any tips from writers who have submitted stories before? Structure/grammar/language style?

There's lists and lists floating around here about what to avoid. We all have our pet peeves. Measurements seem to be one of the biggest ones.

Welcome to the AH, by the way.

A welcome  for the little newbie from the good little witch.

The nice thing about this site is that just about anything goes. Stay away from pedophilia and bestiality, and your story will get posted. Grammar, spelling, etc., are nice, but you'll get posted even if they suck. Whatever you write, some will like it, some will hate it. As for style, please yourself, not others. Take the comments with a grain of salt, and have fun.

That's all the advice I have! Now start writing.......Carney

As has been said the most important thing is to have fun. Enjoy your story.

Correct spelling, grammer and respect for the english language will gather you more friends tho the style is up to you.

If i remember correctly there is a helpful piece on writing in the faq section of the stories page. And ofcourse consider making use of an editor

Check out the Literotica FAQs:

and the Writers' Resources page:

Head on over to the Editors' Forum when you're done with your story and post that you're looking for an editor. Be open to suggestions from your editor. He/she may seem that they're telling you how to write your story, but actually, they're just trying to help you make it the best it can be.

DON'T ever get conned into thinking your editor is a co-author because he/she is not. There was a discussion about this last week. If you find your editor is re-wording way too much of your story, discuss it with him/her, ask why the changes were made.

And while your at the Editors' Forum, look through the DOs and DON'Ts there (it's a "sticky" near the top).

Write for yourself. Don't take any negative comments personally. Have fun.

Welcome to Lit and the AH

If the couple is married...don't, I repeat, DON'T post it in Loving Wives. There are about umpteen factions of trolls there, if one likes your story the rest will hate it. You're better off posting in Erotic Couplings.

Definitely this. Loving Wives is an interesting category.

Also, proper grammar and spelling go a long way toward not annoying your readers.

In addition to what the others have said (especially Zeb):

Keep your sentences reasonably simple and your paragraphs short.

Be descriptive, but not overly so, and bodily measurements are verboten.

Write dialogue realistically in a conversational fashion.

Leave some things to the readers imagination.

I'm sure the FAQ's will be significantly more help, but there you go.

Above all, have fun. Welcome to the AH. :D

Try to have one o' them there "plot" things. Those stories tend to be received a little better. ;)

There are so many different tastes, you'll never satisfy everyone. Complete sentences with good grammar and spelling go a long way. Other than that, write what you like, and there will be others who enjoy the same things you do.

Personally, I think there is a tragic shortage of shower scenes in the world, but then I have a shower fetish. And a locker room fetish.

Can you have one person sneak into the other's locker room, where they get it on, possibly getting caught by someone else?

Never mind, I think I just thought of my next story. :cattail:
