I'm not sure how to do this. I've finished a second novel and would like to submit the entire thing for approval. I just want to make sure nothing will be objected to. Once I have the go-ahead, I'll submit for posting, a chapter at a time. I also want the entire thing to fall under romance, in spite of all the catagories it covers.

Any idea how to submit for approval without it being posted in one big piece? It's 102 K words. Kinda big for a single post.

Thanks,

JPM

My 'Pretty Baby' novel was about the same length as yours, and I chopped it up into six chapters. That seemed to work pretty well and I haven't had anyone tell me any of the chapters were too long. Of course, I posted mine in Novels & Novellas, so readers were expecting long stories.

If you insist on posting in Romance, you might want to make the chapters shorter. That will mean more of them, and you might lose some readers after the first few. You might also want to include some disclaimers at the top indicating that a particular chapter might include elements of BDSM, Non-Consent, Fetish, or whatever.

Hope that helps. ;)

Thanks Slyc

Yep, that helps. My real concern is how to submit the entire work, get it read and approved or comments made, before I start posting the chapters. I don't believe anything will be objectionable, but you never know, and it will be very complicated to make changes, after i've already submitted ten chapters.

I don't know if I can submit the thing (complete) and say - do not publish yet, for approval only - or not.

Thanx again,

No, that really can't be done. The submissions rate at lit is insane, and the editors are up to their keesters. They don't get paid, and they just don't have the time to spare for so much special handling....

In a more perfect world, and all that. :)

Just keep away from the submission taboos and you should be fine.

I think I'm okay there. Definately no under 18's or beasts. But there's a serial killer. Nothing takes place on-screen. It's all refered to after the fact during investigations, or recounted by a witness.

Well, someone is proofing right now, that might take a month, I guess I'll just go for it when I get the manuscript back.

Thanks,

JPMM
