I'm not sure what that place is. I never made it over to the west side of P'cola very often. I lived there in the late 80s. Spent some time at the Flight Deck and of course the FloraBama, but otherwise stayed on the east side of town. Was there this summer. Had a blast.

Florabama is the sort of place where you can chew tobacco and spit on the floor and "it's perfectly sociably acceptable to do so." Only place I know of that hosts a mullet tossing contest. Haven't seen any mullet in Iraq...

I haven't lived in Fairhope since the early 80s so don't know what place you're talking about. And the FloraBama? Well, the building blew down in Ivan, so it's more like a large porch now. I even have a brick from it. But you can still spit on the floor.

But is this the question - would I (male, 48) find a "petitie ugly woman" more desirable than a "beautiful fat woman?" No. Ugly is ugly! Silly. "Average" is relative to what you find attractive; which is always hard to say until you see it, and usually a combination of things - lips, eyes, shape of the chin. We're just talking simple physical appearance though - correct...? Because a sensual, intelligent fat ugly woman beats all of the above..

I think that was exactly WD's point. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So things like intelligence, personality and passion beat out physical appearance any day. At least in my book.

I dunno about other guys, but I have to shake my head and sigh anytime a woman mentions "ugly" in regards to herself, other women, or any human being for that matter.

I've never met an ugly woman, nor do I believe they can even really exist.
Beauty ISN'T in the eye of the beholder, it's in all of us.
There's beauty in everyone, and all one has to do to release it, is smile.

I don't mean to sound preachy or anything, and maybe I'm just an optimistic idealist, but all human life is precious, beautiful, stunning, and unique.

Quite true. I try to look at life this way as well. But at the same time, you can't discount chemistry. And yes, with chemistry and other personality connections, even an unattractive person can become very attractive to you. Or unattractive, as the case often is.

I agree with you and Beachgurl on this...I know some very pretty people on the outside who are very ugly once you know them and some that a lot consider to be ugly who are the most beautiful people that you could meet.

A persons personality says it all...
