this may be true in your situation, however, i personally as well as some others i know of in other threads who have complained about blantent spam and such, and they still remain. this however is not on the personals section. this is in general.

Quite simply this thread was linked to cite as a specific example of a posting that has been around since 2004 and has not had the links removed by a moderator.I am also perplexed as the link i had posted was in response to a specific inquiry from a member of this forum and not a "Hey,Look at This" Spam type posting.In that I am not involved with the site whose link I posted and hence do not derive a financial or compensatory gain from the visits to this aforesaid website,I do not see where this link being deemed Spam is substantive under the commonly understood interpetation of the word Spam.
Clearly anyone seeing this linked post from the "Personals" section with the
several "http" links to various outside websites would get the impression that such links were permissible.Given the number of such links and the fact that these have been extant for approxiametely two years without removal by a moderator only serves to enforce the assumption of permissibility in other threads and forum venues.
Additionally ,I certainly deny engaging in any and all such activities citied by this RisiaSkye,as my intent was to provide information in reply to a specific request and not that of promoting a website or a product.To wit:

There's no policy forbidding links to outside sites; the rule is about ADVERTISING and SPAMMING outside sites.

As far as I can tell, the thread you linked to is a list of resources for BDSMers. Some of those are at Lit, and others are not, just like the BDSM Library and many threads all over the place. It looks like it's still being regularly contributed to and some have deemed it helpful.

I've never seen relevant outside links censored, and why should they be when they're of interest and helpful to people? What are usually removed are off-topic/irrelevant links that the staff deem advertising, spam, too personal and against the rules. How the mods and admins interpret the rules and censor is their prerogative. It's up to the members to report and the staff to keep an eye on things and make a final decision/take the action they deem appropriate given the rules.

And, Bree, I reported the member with the commercial porn banners in his sig to LadyG yesterday after several of us told him it was against the rules. She's always been very good about taking action as soon as she can, and making common sense judgements, in my experience. If you see his sig or similar advertising/annoy commercial shit in other forums, I'd encourage you to report it so the mods can take action. I'm sure Eve can tell us for sure, but I suspect it can take some extra time for sigs to be removed and/or sites to be censored, as that's likely something those with only supermod/admin powers have to take care of.
