with France, Germany and Belgium? Down grade their trade status? Think its time to get out of Nato, Let Europe pay for there own defense and stop giving them aid. They have shown their true colors and they are not allies just users. Agree?

No I don't. I think that it's time for America to live up to it's own propaganda as a bastion of free speech and liberty and rid itself of rightwing fascist nut-jobs.

You obviously do not understand the concepts of free speech and liberty...we defend both right wing and left wing nut jobs...we protect God's gift of freedom...

If you do that, it's going to cost millions of American jobs.

Bush has given an ultimatum to Germany - either get on the war trade or we will deny your two largest companies business in the US. Those two companies? Daimler-Chyrstler and Siemens.

So I hope you don't want a Dodge Durango or a breathing machine.

I think Germany should watch out for Germany. Just because the US wants them to send their soldiers to die, doesn't mean they should. Fuck the US for telling other countries to kill their troops.

Funny, is that what you do with your friends?

Once they disagree with your opinon, you dump them?

First off we have made trucks here long before these bullshit mergers and second the rest of world has no problem accepting our troops to die for them ... we don't need them anyway..they just need to stay out of the way...

Right. But if we can't do buisness with Daimler-Chrystler, they have no use for the American plants do they?

You don't understand much about the global economy do you?

Siemens makes electronics for damn near everything I can think of.

They are not friends in the first place...you stand next to your friends even if you don't wish to agree but you stop them from doindg what they think is right.

I certainly do understand the global economy and how it is destroying this country (except for the rich).

Same game, different day...

This is old stuff, NATO will continue with the US, trade will continue with all concerned, and we will be left saying, "Huh?"

Okay, so some of the Europeans want to take their marbles away and don't want to play with us right now. (shrug) Who cares? It's not worth leaving NATO over.

Wondering in a Winnebago,

Lets make this simple.

Free Trade good it helps premote division of labor across international borders.

Globalization good, for the most part at least, there does need to be some regulation of the market to reduce the likelyhood of negative consequences. Monopolies, enviromental damage and severly depressed wages are examples of negative consequences.

Spin, you have a habit of ruining a good post with the last sentence. Germany and France would never send troops, and they don't have to.

All the U.S. is asking for is not to be blocked in the U.N. and NATO.

You obviously do not live in a small town in rural America, although in theory specialization makes a more efficient economes...efficiency is not always good thing...if we were all efficient..***** would be one boring living hell...slave labor is very efficient for some.

There will be growing pains and that is unfortunate but the major economies of the world are in the middle of a shift from industrial based economies to informational based ones.

Some of secondary levels of industry are going to severly cut back or eliminated all together. The steel industry in the US is an example of this and probably won't last much longer even with the new tariffs that have been placed on it. The more modern mini-mills that recycle steel may survive but I doubt the tradional raw steel mills will.

I agree!

You should be disgusted!

You should cut all ties with Europe immediately!

(Shut your mouth Spin - Canada could use the economic boost! Hell, our lowly loony might even break even with the almighty buck again :D)

I posted something about France getting 75% of their electricity from nuclear power. That comes from 59 plants in a nation of 212,000 sq miles. I'm thinking they don't have a Jean Asscreax that is willing to round up all the non-whites for internment. They also don't have a force-field missile defense system or a chief executive that thinks he is the love child of Abe Lincoln and Andy Jackson.

NATO has outlived it's usefullness as a defensive alliance. The threat that it was meant to counter is no longer a threat.

NATO has itself become a European political association showing more signs of being economically oriented as each day passes

I can see the US as an adjunct member. An associate member if you will, but it's time that the Europeans take the lead and provide for their own common defense just as they are providiing for their own economic union.

It was signaled today that the US is seriously considering the withdrawal of many of our troops in Europe. Germany in particular and the closing of many installations there. I suspect that that will also include the removal of much of the pre-postioned arms and ordnance.

Hmmm. How about we cut loose of organizations that don't enforce their own rules then?
