It was going to be the "Lincoln Club" but they changed it to "Log Cabin Republicans" because Lincoln was born in a log cabin. I'm not sure why they associate themselves with Abe Lincoln, but that is the origin of the name.

Most likely they associate with Abraham Lincoln because he was the one responsible for removing slavery, simply because it was wrong. Sorta the same thing needs to be done for gay's.
