Obviously I'm new - actually a new pistol owner. And actually choined the NRA (mainly for their range) too.

IDPA? Don't even fully know what it stands for - I(?) D-efence, P-istol, A-ssociation........

I would guess.

But so far, from what I've gleened - it's the one I should try.

Figure I'm stickin' with 9mm and probably get my feet wet with a stock Berretta 92 or a Browning P-35.

Anybody know anything about this sport? I figure, for me - this and golf will be my retirement sports.

Hehe

Get a good Dillon reloader. You're going to need it.

Pick your category and stick with it. SSP, ESP, CDP. Stock Service Pistol is the 'cheapest' entry to the sport. (Cheap being a very relative term.)

If possible, get a pistol that has a .22 equivalent or conversion. Burn lots of ammo. Slow fire is good, but 'timed fire' and 'rapid fire' are going to get you very 'time' aware. You'll get in the 'zone' with these disciplines.

Have fun.
