I used to hunt, but don't anymore.

Yesterday, dove season opened in Louisiana.

Dove hunting was my favorite kind of hunting. That and squirrels.

I wonder how many hunters won't hunt on account of the West Nile Virus?

Oh, and if you do hunt- be sure to cook your birds thoroughly.

I hunt pheasant every year and yes this year I am concerned. I always cook the birds thoroughly. Nothing worse than a raw pheasant.

Wasting disease is killing the big game in Colorado and now the West Nile is getting the birds. Whirling disease with the fish.

Test you bags and cook it well.

There is an article about the wasting disease in the October Louisiana Sportsman issue. It's getting into the deer here. :(

The Division of Wildlife in Colorado will test the animal. I do not know how much it costs or how long it takes. Big game hunting here is not nearly as enjoyable since all the idiots with four wheelers started screaming up and down the trails and scaring the game away.

If I go big game next year it will be archery or muzzle. Less idiots. Less bullshit.

it would be hard to dove hunt with a bow and arrow....;)

LOL

come to Alaska. the entire state population could be out screaming around on four wheelers at the same time and you'd still find a nice, quite, beautiful spot to hunt.

just bring money. it ain't cheap by any means (i've heard quotes around $1000 including supplies, ammo, a plane trip out to a nice, remote area and whatnot), but just about everybody agrees that it's worth it.

I saw a program on TV about bow hunting pheasant. It was unreal.

I can see bow hunting pheasant... or turkey.

I will never forget: My dad invited me pheasant hunting one time. It was a lodge deal- they raised pheasant and quail in southern Arkansas. There were about 6 of us.

I didn't hunt. I took pictures of the men hunting. I did shoot the clays in between the hunts.

It was ridiculous. They buy the birds and then some guy would go put them in the field and they would shoot them. It was like going to a whorehouse. :)

What was so funny was the way they posed with their kills.... I was like, "Well, what the fuck...." LOL

My cousins are big duck hunters. I always have duck- I am never short of mallards and I know how to cook 'em.

Scylis my Alaska trip will be for the salmon. And the big bucks will go to the strippers in Anchorage. :)

NOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUN!

Salmon and strippers. Something every growing boy needs! :)

I do a mallard version of coch au vin. what is duck in french? Ah, I guess I could just call it perk au vin.

I hope to be able to deer hunting this year ( still having trouble out of my left arm)but, i don't know. Getting three stands ready with all the bush hoging , disking, and planting along with filling up the corn feeders did my arm in last year.

Then the outlaw night hunters make it kind of tuff to keep deer in the area.

I'm going to give it a try though.

I confess, though- domestic duck and goose are sooooo much better than wild. My dad does a good job on goose at Christmas. He does the "orange" thing. The skin is like candy..... baste your butt with that. :)

baste my butt with orange candy skin? you are soooo kinky, or wait, is perverted using the whole duck?

btw, I like to hold the thermos of hot cocoa when I go hunting, and distracting the hunter so we can have sex against a tree. That's my two cents, so I'm not a complete hijacker.
