Any gunfighters ...

in the 'ol coral these days?

How's it work? We trade new poem for new poem? See who can outlast the other? That's an exercise I've always wanted to try, usually no one's interested though. I think we both like women, we'll write about what it's like to desire a woman. I'll go first if you want.

First, to be in the coral I'd need to be swimming in the tropics... sigh. I'm not.

As far as a gunfight goes, I think I'll wait until my class schedule is a bit more ingrained. I'm not sure of workload this semester and once I have a better feel for my free time, I'll get back to you.

I was simply wondering who might or might'nt want to get involved in the new year. I adore these challenges (and the poets who participate). I might be talked in participating myself, but I'm a crap poet and know it. ;)

Apart from survivor we haven't anything much so what are you going to start this time?

And new poetry survivor not started yet
(which is OK - my muse seems to have gone on vacation lately)

my muse was writing fantastic poetry in my head just before I went to sleep again! only to be lost by morning!

Amazingly, mine did the same last night but I remembered it and got it all down in the morning--the first time that has happened. It's not a full poem yet: I think my muse fell asleep halfway through.

Good I am glad someone did! I've been told to keep a paper and pen by the bed but by the time I have found my glasses and turned the light on to get it all down the other half would be spitting fire and brimstone lol

You know there is an old media story about the script writer who was given exactly that advice and followed it. He dreamt a fantastic idea, woke up, grabbed his pad, scribbled it down and fell asleep again. In the morning he remembered the pad and looked at what he had written. It said, "Boy meets Girl". x

Awwwwwww lol

I already asked, they wouldn't answer. I thought someone wanted to trade new poems. :(
A "gunfight" here is typically a poet's duel. A time is set, both poets show up, read the criterion, and compose (often in a required verse form) a poem within a (very) limited period of time.

Judges determine who wins.

It's kind of fun. I've done it before, so ditch that "oh he doesn't know about this" shit. The exercise is stressful, but fun.

It really is kind of fun. You guys should think about doing it.

You're all clever types, so it should be easy, whatever the criterion. ;)

I'm game

1, subj refers.

Today my muse has partially returned, I started on a private poem for my wife.
Wasn't done tonite but we put the underlying inspiration to good use. ;)

I can lift weights if I wanna exercise. I'd rather trade new poem for new poem on one theme until someone gets sick of it. Also, I don't know you like that, Tzara.

Of course you can. Lift weights, I mean.

I wasn't trying to be snotty there, just posting in my usual, obnoxious full of myself style. So, granted. You don't know me like that. No one does.

The "new poem for new poem" thing sounds interesting, though. It's just not what "gunfight" historically has meant around here. Don't mean to be contrary about that--just explaining.

I'd be very interested in your kind of gunfight, actually, if you can get someone like, oh, Champie or Dora or GM to duke it out with you. It'd be a great thread--kind of Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots on a more intellectual scale.

I smack your simile with this metaphor! kind of thing.

Cool.

Who is GM?

I want to create some poems on the fly, maybe a minimum of one a day time limit, 24 hours from the other poster's post, for however long. We'll have some fairly specific theme. I don't care about judging, just being forced to write better poems.

Tzara, I said I don't know you like that because I confuse you with Remec and a few other people. Some of the females I mix up too.
