I've been learning shinai fighting lately due to the fact we can use them without extensive armor requirements, usually just a pair of gloves to protect the knucles works.
However, I've got bad wrists and taking a hit to my wrist or forearm can put me out of commission sword-wise for the rest of the day minimum. I've had it happen during training, it hurt beyond what I'll describe here.
So, here's my question- any ideas on what kind of guard that I could find or recommendations? I need to be able to fully flex my wrist while still having it protected.
Figured this would be a good place to ask, lol.
Well. erm Fencing ... er no. I fight with a claymore or falberge. So usually a two handed fighter.
I also do the occasional renaissance fair, and also historical reenactments in britain and germany ( there always seems to be demand for two meter tall long haired villains... he,he)
A quick fix that usually helps me? Go to the next bowling/sports store and get a bowling glove... one that supports the entire lower arm. They protect and support the same areas that "we" use at a reasonable price, and can easily be hid under a bracer.
