Yesterday morning I was sitting around waiting for my car to get an oil change, and the only magazines the auto dealer had were Spa Finder, Harper's Bazaar, and Marie Claire. So, skipping all the pictures of skinny women in provocative poses, I read some of the articles in Marie Claire. Really -- who are these women? Has anyone here read this magazine? Are any of you 35 to 40 year old women recovering from your divorce to your starter husband, sprucing yourself up with anal bleaching, a little trim to the hood on your clit, maybe a little face lift and breast enchancement while you're at it? Does this magazine really have an audience?

Of course, I read Playboy and I'm really not into hundred dollar tee shirts and thousand dollar sport jackets -- but still. Is this what happens to the Cosmo Girl when she hits midlife?

Ya know, I'm not a fashionista, but I certainly do see many women in public and think, "What was she thinking?

I'm wondering what kind of garage only has those mags? Where's the Truckin' Life and V8s for ever type mags?

I knew there was a reason I never read women's mags.

It's just a run of the mill Subaru dealer. The service manager is a woman -- maybe she selects the magazines?

LOLOL

The last time I was in the dealership waiting for my car to be seviced I looked over the magazines.

GQ
Cosmopolitan
Other such magazines.

Nary a sight of Road and Track,
Popsci
Popmech
or anything of this sort.

What's next? Graphic Novels?

Cat

Huh?

Anal bleaching????
What in the world could that be? Why whould someone want to do it?

From Wikipedia
Anal bleaching is the practice of bleaching the darker pigmentation of the skin of light-skinned people, around the anus. It is used for cosmetic purposes. A cream is used containing around 20% hydroquinone (a suspected carcinogen banned by several countries including France and the UK)[1][2][3][4][5] as an active ingredient.

Now where was that thread about the ass cancer?

I learn so much around here!

I'm with you Lisa - why do it?
"Cosmetic purposes"? How many people wave their arseholes around in public enough to want to bleach them?

The mind boggles. Lots.

I am a re-fashionista

I only refashion clothing, not my body, although I do get my bi-yearly hair cut whether I need it or not ;)

I have never been divorced, no starter husband. I am 47, and if I ever decide to have a husband he'll be a keeper one.

I will read Marie Claire, I prefer the UK version. There is usually one decent human interest change the world for women type article that I go to first.

I used to love a magazine called Victoria. It never had any of those fix your body, please men, ect... articles. It had great fashions and lots of stories of woman business owners, Tasha Tudor articles, and amazing photography.

I forgot the recipes, it had great recipes and even the ads were cool.
