In honor of my new AV, I thought I'd see if anyone else liked/loved the story of The Crow. (Movie or comic) How about it?

That was my favorite movie for a long time. I still remember Golgotha Tenement Blues by Nine Inch Nails. Course I was also very much into allusions to the gospels in a modern context. I don't subscribe to the tradional view of Christ.

A friend of mine got me to read the comic shortly before the movie came out. After that I was hooked. I ended up herding all my friends to go see the movie, which I thought was very well done.

Last year, Script and I went to a NIN concert and they did the song from the soundtrack. It was incredible. :)

Oooo *attack of jealousy*

*Sticks up hand*
Loved that film. Haven't seen it in ages.
Mental note: must buy copy.

Have you ever read the comic novel for The Crow? It actually delves a little deeper into Eric's mind, once he comes back.

Slightly off topic, if you still like NIN they just put out a new cd last week and it's pretty good.

You can probably find the 2 disc special edition pretty inexpensive now (it came out a few years back). It has an interview with the creator and I think some of Brandon's screen tests for the role. He was the perfect choice for it.

Man, "The Crow" is so high school for me. It's a good flick, although the sequels were so-so.

Ooo . . .anyone seen Quiet_Cool? This thread reminds me of him so much.

Do I love The Crow? You betcha! I have all the movies a few t-shirts. Now I just need school over with for the summer so I can actually watch them again.

The movie was good, although a bit too cartoony. It showed that Brandon was definitely on the rise as an action star. His tragic death still saddens me.

Was it on the soundtrack? *checks* Not Nine Inch Nails. Machines Of Loving Grace.

Dead Souls from the The Crow soundtrack was the first thing I heard from NIN. Then I went out and bought whever the store had by 'em.

Good movie. Never saw the sequels though.

I own the DVD, but I'm not sure I like it all that much. It's ok, but I wouldn't say I'm a fan.

I hated the second movie. Waste of time and money.

I loved the first one. The whole oeuvre was gorgeous and dark. Great soundtrack as well.

I thought the sequels blew chunks.

Ditto.

Love the comics, love the story behind James O'Barr's genius. LOVE most of the book series- Poppy Z. Brite did an INCREDIBLE job with The Lazarus Heart, Temple of Night was pretty damn good- hell, even the City of Angels book was a million times better than the movie.

One day, when I am very, very successful and famous, I will approach the publisher of the book series with a request to write one. Hell, I have it nearly written.

The question was am I fan? Oh, very, very much so.

Too many people to quote it all, but I agree the second Crow movie was the definition of a bad sequel (too similar to the first and really didn't convey what they were trying to.)

For direct to video Salvation wasn't that bad, but it's hard to top the original story.

I was still in High school when this film came out and as I said earlier had read the graphic novel before hand. I credit it with helping me get through some tough times back then, thus the story of The Crow will always be a piece of me.

I had to quote you being the first to mention the comics. One of the highlights of 1995 for me was meeting James O'Barr at a comic con in Charlotte. He even signed a copy of the trade for me. I too thought the comic sequels were pretty well done, and they helped get me back into collecting other titles as well.

I thought I'd change my AV in honor of you, babe.

To a love that will endure always, no matter what. :rose:

Ditto. I absolutely loved the first movie. I have it on DVD and still watch it every few months or so.

Thanks sweet heart.

It means a great deal to share this life with you.

Loved the first movie. Such a tragedy Brandon Lee died making it. He would have been a HUGE star.

Dead Souls excellent song. It's actually a cover. I don't remember who did it originally, though.

One of my favorite movies and also love the soundtrack.

I went to college in Wilmington, NC where they filmed part of the movie. Sadly, it's also the town where Brandon was killed. :rose:
