Any Election Parties?

It seems that for every election since Carter I've been at an Election Party. It's always a blast watching the returns come in and listening to the Network Talking Heads gush and guess and editorialize and generally get all goofy as hell trying to be the first to report that the Utah polls are closed and they're projecting 43% for Candidate B. There are the inevitable lectures on the differences between the Popular Vote and the Electoral College and why the parties are represented by animals. And, of course, there's the requisite promises to not reveal too much before the West Coast has a chance to vote, but that never really happens. I can't help it. I truly dig watching those percentages slide up and down (will Nader match Perot's numbers?)

But, alas, no Election Party on the horizon this year. No Oscar party either. Geez, I'd better start making New Years plans now...

Anyone else having a party?

I vote first thing in the morning, and then leave the news off all day long. I listen to CDs or watch movies in the evening.

If I've done something stupid, like sign up to be an election worker, the last thing I want to deal with is news. At the end of that kind of day, I don't even care who won.

Definitely no parties. I don't go to parties for fun; why for an election? Eeeeeewwww.

What if they spice it up a bit? What if ABC hired Joan Rivers to rag on what people were wearing as they voted? Or get Deniis Miller to do some color commentary at the campaign headquarters?

Umm Excuse me here but could one of you kind American's help me at all???

When do you vote? (Date please) so I don't waste my money calling a certain somebody that day/week.

Thank-you :)

Tuesday, November 7, 2000.

However, some states have early voting, and all have "absentee voting", so Havoc might not be standing in line at the polls on the 7th.

*Blushing* Thank-you Harold.

I'm happy now it doesn't co-encide with weekends, so I still get to talk :D

Thanks Harold ... do you mind if I give you a hug??

Nicole, I answered your e-mail, but it came back "Unable to Mail" or something, sorry. Yep, Nov 7th. Every Presidential election is on the first Tuesday in November.

Thanks DCL I appriciate that. I am having trouble with my mail too so thanks for taking the time to let me know.

I'm happy now :) (((((((((((DCL))))))))))))) Thanks :)

I love election parties too. My favorite are at the local Republican Party Headquarter because for some reason they throw better parties. And more booze too. I might have to dig up a few political buttons and crash the joint that night. Let's just hope they don't some how find out I'm a registered Democrat from my rebellious youth.

Small addition to this: It's the first Tuesday AFTER the first Monday.

That's so funny. I'm registered as Rep. Haven't voted that way (except for small, local offices) since shirtly after I left home. I have to laugh at all of the stuff I've been getting that says "Vote for Bush". Ain't gonna happen! lol
