Any authors get negative reactions after publishing erotica?

I'm refining an ebook of erotica, centering on updated and expanded versions of the Robles Family stories I've previously posted on this website. The subject matter is primarily familial incest with a Latino twist, and I'm hoping to have it digitally published in July.

My question is, have any authors here experienced any sort of negative backlash after publishing erotica, from family, friends, or perhaps loyal readers of previously published books that were not erotica?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Some of my published erotica writing cuts close enough to personal experience that anyone who knows me could be pretty assured in identifying it with me just from chronology/setting/and character personalities--I even have a "rosy-glasses" erotica memoir out that includes situations and a chronology of foreign residency that would quickly identify me too. But I've never had a mention from anyone. Could be that my public persona is so much different and that I don't run with anything like the crowd I did (on the side even then) of the experience connections. I've pretty much managed separate lives for quite a few decades.

I got into quite a bit in an overseas life (including espionage) that has yet to come back and bite me. I think that's a function of not as many folks (including Big Brother) looking over your shoulder in real life as most folks (and all of the consipracy theorists) think is happening.

The most backlash I get, is from lesbians who don't feel I should be writing in that category. Pisses them off that my stories do so well.:D

Nope, no negative reaction except from some who want me to write faster.

My family shake their head. My slave loves it. Some friends know and either aren't surprised or don't care which is why they know but other friends don't.

My editors would shoot me (or worse, stop paying me!!!!) if my name was associated with my pen name hence the pen name and select info given here.

What are you doing posting here when you should be writing more erotica Dammit!!!! get cracking! :D

Alright already! Put the whip down. ;)

Can I at least finish work today.

pssst: There's a new one in my sig line. ;)

I know a couple of people who have paid a huge price for posting on Lit, both socially and professionally. Some professions frown on its members writing porn--teaching, for instance. If you are vulnerable, be very, very careful who you let know; this shit tends to jump up and bite you in the ass and friends tend to disappear when it does.

Well said.

Sadly, this should be a post every newbie reads before writing or posting here him or herself.

Sports writing and the banking industry both come to mind as a couple of our Lit writers found out the hard way a few years back.

I have no idea why she would do it, but after her mother kept prodding her about what I wrote my wife told her. She was nice enough to leave out incest, but mentioned BDSM.

My mother in law is a mid sixties old fashioned Italian and just said Oh. Then came back a week later after she mentioned it to someone and they said that's that "rough stuff"

My mother in law barely trusts me as it is. My wife has a goody two shoes rep that is pretty much just that. To their family I'm bad news to begin with. Now her mother thinks I beat her.

I'm not saying I don't, but its upon request.

Okay, I read and voted and want you back to work...writing that is!

As usual great work. You went in a different direction than I was anticipating or thinking of myself which was one of the things I liked about it. Thanks for a very enjoyable and thought provoking read!
