retrogressive, regressive, unmodernised, conservative, retrograde, throwback, returning, unordered, unmodernized, atavistic, reverting, disordered, inactive, decreasing

In some languages two negatives is still a negative.
In English two negatives is a positive. Supposedly no language has two positives being a negative.

Yeah, right!!

You're a 'one-track-minded' kinda guy, aren't you?;)

it used to be that way in english as well.

Professor: No language uses two positives to indicate a negative.
Student: Yeah, sure.

Liberalism is so loathsome, liberals won't even call themselves by the actual word anymore. :D

You are LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS

You are LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS, LIBERALS
The liberal arts are those studies necessary to function as an independent being.

The opposite of liberal is not conservative, but enslaved.

EDIT: This is my 7077th LIT post. Only 700 more to go.

Two big political parties in Canada.

Liberals and Conservatives.

No semantics.

Conservative party used to be called the Progressive Conservatives until they crashed after Mulroney and had to rebuild and rebrand.

Can't imagine a party calling itself the Conservative Liberals.

Aren't both of the big parties in the US Republican Democrats? Not like you have any parties advocating an absolute Monarchy.

If we are speaking in broad political terms, it is "Libertarian" which is classic "Liberalism" but the Progressives co-opted the label once people figured out that Progressive meant Fabian which meant Socialist...

;) ;)

To “win like Fabius” or to win by “Fabian tactics” is to wear out an opponent by delay and evasion rather than confrontation, in the style of the ancient Roman general Fabius.

Lots of political comparisons to be made there.

I speak of that brand of "Progressive" in Europe that referred to itself as Fabian Socialists.

;)

In Germany and Austria, they were the Socialists of the Chair.

I have taken those political questionnaires multiple times. No matter how you answer other questions, as soon as you say you smoke pot it puts you squarely in the Libertarian quadrant.

I relate libertarian to the nutters in the US who argue against any government controls.

I'm a liberal and a law and order type. Only 'libertarian' thing I relate to is pro-pot.

This is not the Libertarian position, it is the position of the anarchist.

On the Limits of State Action Wilhelm von Humboldt.

Pro-pot is not really a Libertarian issue.

Libertarian is mainly an economic movement.

Typically Latin American politics has two factions of elites, usually labeled Reds and Greens but having no connexion with outside implications of those terms. They're only mirrors of the same ruling assholes -- no commies, ecologists or progressives allowed. Those tend to be shot or go into exile.

Most Latin Americans know they live in police states. We USAnians are still deluded there. And our pols can be bought cheap. Bribes cost more in most of the world. Does free-market capitalism keep USA bribery prices down?
