Okay, this just in. I'm at my campus library, and there's this woman standing in front of the printer. It's jammed. She calls the female librarian for help. The librarian comes, and jokes about the printer : "It's male, you have to slap it on the head, just like a man." The other woman laughed.
I felt blood rise to my head. Angry, I rose and went to the librarian's desk.
I told her : " I don't know if you were joking back there or not but I found it offensive." She looked at me and said that she was joking. I nodded and returned to my seat. She came back to me and told me that she has six brothers, worked in the national guard and that she loved me. I nodded again. I HAD to say SOMETHING !!! If I hadn't, it would have bothered me all day.

What do you think ?

I don't think much of it. I hear "you hit like a girl", "you're such a girl", etc. all the time. It doesn't mean they hate girls...

I don't find it any worse than a "blonde" joke or a "woman driver" joke.

The entire world cannot be expected to life a humourless life of political correctness. Such a joke hardly indicates an anti-male attitude, it indicates experience with stubbornness or hard-headedness, stereotypically considered a male trait.

on the other hand.
If I said it within earshot, it likely would indicate a desire to slap a male upside the head.

Okay. Would your reaction be the same if it went something like this ? Suppose the librarian was male and said : "It's female. It never listens. You just have to beat it over the head with a club."

Any woman within the vincinity would have done anything from yelling at him, attacking him to threatening to sue to filing a complaint to demanding his resignation. I think I was a lot more forgiving of an anti-male remark than most feminist-types would have been of an anti-female remark, don't you think ?

Dear Samuel, sometimes you act so childish, come on sir, lighten up :)

Heck, I have heard worse things about my weight, and well I must laugh, since the dear women always (sometimes anyway) says something like that, like "they hate their husband, but he fucks so good" or worse stuff. Don´t take everything so seriously :)

Heck if I was stopped by women, because I am sometimes over analyzing things, and then grumbles "censored", or for that matter when I talked to my female friend this night (yup it is NIGHT in Denmark right now), when I told her about some women, or for that matter school in some ways or another. I used the word Bitch, and again I apologised for saying it. Since it is a bad word to say, but then she said she understood, what I ment, and in the context .

But if they go anti gay or anti bi, then you can stand up, and fight for your right as a person. Or if they are plain mean at you, but not the usual stuff. But well if you weren´t with that man, you could of course had shagged her (consentually of course) when she said she loved you ;) .

Don´t take it seriously, but sometimes it is ok, to stand up for your right :)

Get Up Stand Up, Stand up for your right :)

Heck, sometimes I say a PC is like a woman, because of different stuff, and windows is like a virus that spreads from PC to PC.

Or for that matter when I kid about the Danish police on Seeland, and why is it always the people from Jutland on Seeland, and not the Seelanders who are policemen, heck it is all part of a teasing, nothing more really. But sometimes I am a bit tired of listening to the Jutland dialect, when it is the policemen in Copenhagen, but enough of that. And take it more lightly, and listening to the tone, and not loose your temper while you are at it.

Heck I am not good at Irony/sarcasm, but I understand the most of both things, but still sometimes I can´t understand it.

Or for that matter the normal teasing between the Jutlanders, and the Selanders in Denmark, the people on Seeland calls Jutland, for a "foreign country", and the Jutlanders calls Seeland for the Devil Island (after the prison). And there are jokes about people in Aarhus, and well most jokes in Aarhus are about Copenhageners like me. So many kinds of jokes and other stuff, are just teasing. And nothing serious :)

Wolfman, you're a cool guy. I should recommend to my single gay and bisexual male friends to go to Denmark. That is, if there are many more like you back there ? It's already night in your part of the world ? Wow ! It's only 5 : 58 PM in Boston. Don't lose your humor, man.

I sure hope so , that there are more like me in Denmark, and well my female friend is bi just like me (we aren´t lovers or anything like that, we are just friends), But well I think it is up to the individiual or every person, to be "cool", but how can I say it ?

I sure hope there are more than just me, and my female friend, who are cool in Denmark :)

But there are antigay movements too here, and other stuff.

the time is 00:06 (we use the 24 hour clock system)

Man, I wish I could see Denmark. For now, I'm in the USA. No complaints.
Things could be worse. You have a bi female friend ? Well, good to see our "kind" sticking together. It's always good to see GLBT people and their straight supporters together. We have allies in the straight community, believe it or not. Even more surprising, we have Male allies. I'm just killing time until I go home. I've written two stories today.
They will come out in Literotica soon. Something about a lady who likes bi guys. You still remember Foster, as evident in your posts. Yeah, he's cool. He's working on something right now. He's a bit stressed. Tough season, you know. Have a pleasant night, friend. Wish I could buy you
a drink or something.

No worries man :)

I do also have some straight friends who are supportive when it comes to many GLBT issues.

Well PM me for an IM contact :)

But we will talk at eachother at another time :)

Give Foster a big sloppy kiss from me, but tell him it first after you have kissed him, that it was from me. Since it always makes men look strange in their heads :) Yes my humour is special :p :)

No, that would not have bothered me either. I recognise humour (even bad humour) about 85% of the time and can react appropriately. I am only bothered by anti-woman remarks when they are said in a non-jest situation, or when they are directed in a personal manner. Surely relating a balky machine to a male was not intended to insult you or males.

Assuming that feminist women are angry, humourless litigious people, as your second paragraph indicates, displays a more anti-female attitude than did the jest comment used as an example.

Well, I am just going to say , that I am voting for women politicians :)

And no please don´t call me a male schuvinist :) heck I love women too much :)

But I think I will shut up, right now :) since I am beginning to be high on music (crazy me ;) ) :)

Wolfie, don't forget that some male politicians do mean well ( they're rare but they're out there). also, some of us men are quite lovable. dont shut up. we love to hear you.

Samuel: You make me laugh and smile :) (a big smile by the way), but don´t worry I am not falling in love with you. It is just sometimes, I go too off topic in an ontopic topic. :)

I think all of us have "those type" of (bad) days where even a certain look or a stare from someone will set off things bad.

Yes, having a sense of humor definitely helps.

What do you think ?

Some people think it's being politically incorrect to have a problem with it.

I disagree. You let her know you found it offensive, she had the opportunity to change her behavior if she wished. Political correctness would be you causing a rule to be made that she couldn't make such statements at all.

I find sexist statements that belittle other people based on traits over which they have no control to be tactless and rude. I might speak up or not depending on whether or not I felt the other person cared (because some people just don't care if they are offensive), but more importantly, it tells me that I don't want to invite that person into my life any more than I have to.

i agree

i agree that comments like that shouldnt be said. as she was a staff member, you should have thought of making a formal complaint. they will probably try and make you feel stupid, but that is what they all do.

Jess

I think you need to relax.

I hate men. But I'm friends with a good many of them, I'm in a long term relationship with one, and I love my dad.

I just don't like men as a whole.

Just like I don't like Americans as a whole. Individual people, yes, I love them, but I disagree with their president, their culture, their policies, etc.

Just like men.

You too? I thought I was the only one bothered by that.

(Just kidding - I would not be able to tell a Jutland from a Seeland accent of one cop from each place bit me in the fanny. ;)
Sorry - I don't mean to be provincial - just couldn't resist!)

So it's not that you hate men, but you just don't like certain aspects of them. Hate is a really heavy word. I, too, can't stand the 'always competitive with other females' that most women have, but i wouldn't say i hate them just for that.(Well, I like them in despite that.) Generalizing isn't very good :)

I'd say I don't like the standard type of civilian that can't see how there is more than just black and white..
Hmm.. I am completely off topic, so in reply to the original question, no I wouldn't get mad. Instead I may have joked around too if I thought of something funny.

No worries, if you aren´t a Dane, or maybe have some knowledge about the Danish dialects(yes they are dialects and not accents), then it could a be a little difficult , but the people from Jutland "sings" more in the dialect than the Seelanders do.

I don't know if that was directed at me.. but.. yeah, pretty much. I dislike the general concept of men. Pretty severely. But I have wonderful men in my life.

Hey Ms. just that you know it, I always vote for female politicians. Since I was raised to be a gentleman.
So hate all what ever you like, but in the end hates, eats more of a person inside than the other way around. So forget the hate, and god damn smash your hate into the wall. I know :) that if I have too much hate in my body, I get ill inside, so stop hating, and give the irritation of the "stereotypical" image of a man the finger instead. And punch some anger out through your body, instead of disliking the concept of a man :)

Come on, we need eachother on this Earth to survive :) so if you hate thy neighbor, then try to love him instead. Sorry, it is just all that hatred makes me feel strange inside ...

Ms: if you and your significant other gets the crazy idea to come on a vacation in Denmark , then I would gladly give a drink, or a cup of tea or coffe in one of those lovely cafe´s in Denmark :)

Peace

Yeah it was directed towards you.Sorry for not clearing that out :)
Uum, I just don't understand how you can hate half the planet's population without some particular reason..
I'd find it very logical if you said:"I hate men who treat others like shit" or "I don't like men who are completely insensitive".
But whatever:) hate who you want. I just think it's not fair for the small group of wonderful men that you love, to say that you hate the concept of man.

Who said I didn't have a particular reason?

I have plenty of particular reasons.
