A Valley woman thought she was covered by health insurance, but when she had a baby, she found out she wasn't.

It turns out the employer was going bankrupt and it did not inform the employees. So his fraudulent behavior cost her $7,000.

The reporter implied it was up to HER to own up to her employer's fraudulent behavior and negotiate her payments down by 50%.

If I were the police I would imprison the employer for fraud and let him waste a pile of money defending himself in criminal court or let the public defender railroad him into a plea bargain and time in prison.

This employer intentionally left his/her employees exposed to major financial liabilities. You only stop behavior like that with the harshest possible punishments.

Employers are rats, no doubt about it.

The solution is to start your own business and screw them.

I'm actually thinking of instituting transparent accounting at our insurance office. So my employees know for a fact that the premiums for their benefits are being paid out properly. Once that's done I could submit the idea to the politicians who aren't even 10 miles from me, and see who decides it's a good idea to institute this for all employers.

If employers cannot afford to be honest and be accountable, then we really don't need them. They are as readily replaceable as workers are, and I'd much rather have honest people take their place.
