That's the Sircam virus. I got one in my mail the other day, and deleted it with testing my Anti-Viral protection.

It bears repeating: Don't open attachments from people you don't know, especially ones with strange file extensions.

You're not kidding. I received an e-mail from a very good friend of mine that I have known for many years. Didn't think anything about it, as she mails me often. When I clicked on it to open, a warning went out telling me not to open it. I deleted it and called her and she said she had not sent me anything. It is a sad day when you can't open mail from your friends anymore because of idiots out there. It had her address on it. I think this must have been that virus everyone was talking about. She said when she turned her computer on, everything went red and warnings of a virus came up. She has taken it to be cleaned, but it's a shame she has to. Crazy people out there.

The odd thing is that the ONLY place I got that virus sent to me was at my OLD email address what was posted with my pics here at Lit. I didn't recognize any of the names of people on the emails that were sent to me with the virus. I'm thinking a few real names got sent to me by mistake of people who had previously contacted me. I deleted them all anyway without opening since I'd heard so much about the virus. They did completely fill my old email address in box though.

Don't open attachments from ANYONE w/out checking them!

With all these worms, your best friend (or your mom) could screw up and a worm could send a friendly "message" to everyone on their list. That's why they carry dumb, vague titles like "That file you requested." Have every incoming attachment scanned and you'll never regret anything.
