I'm going to see Black Dahlia tonight. Not that I really want to but... it's a date and I sorta said "yea, sure. sounds like a good one." You know, I'm such a sucker subbie somtimes. (Side note: I really wanted to see Hollywoodland and I think I might take Jane tomorrow night to see it.)

Actually, this movie, from the reviews I've read, is not all that good.

I'm a true crime addict. I especially like the lust murder stuff and I've read everything of substance about the Black Dahlia. James Ellroy wrote the book that this movie is based on and he's a great author (L.A. Confidential - which I love, as well as the movie).

But I just finished this book... Black Dahlia Avenger by Steve Hodel. I think it's the definative book/theory on this case. I emailed this author after I read his book. (His website is blackdahliaavenger.com) He replied!!!! and it was a personal email, not some computer generated thingy. His book has been sold to New Line Cinema. I can't wait for a movie to come out. Most people would find his book dry. But I think a good movie could result from it.

Interesting connection between Hodel and Ellroy; Ellroy's mother was murdered in the 50's and Hodel contends that the Dahlia murderer was also the likely murderer of Geneva Ellroy. The 2 men have since become good friends.

Okay... I gotta go. He's here...
Shit... typos. Made him wait 'til I fixed them. ;-)

Soo, how was it?
It really dragged in the middle and Black Dahlia was so peripheral to the plot that it might as well have been any murder case, not the most notorious in L.A. history. I actually fell asleep once. I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone and for sure wait for it to come out on HBO or rent it... lots cheaper to see that way.

Otherswise, the date was fun. I just got home. ;-)

And hey.... thanks for asking.

The reviews I read weren't all that great, sorry to hear it was a bad as they said.

On the other hand..the date sounds fab! :nana:

ohhh lets start with what time was that in Vegas please...... :D

Spill Missy Lit is waiting ! :rose:

Once more I've loved I've laughed and I've lost
Now I'm alone left counting the cost
Once more sweet child of middling years
Basted again in bitter-sweet tears
I will survive the solitude
But come alive
Although the new

Somebody tell me you love me
Somebody tell me you care
I've got a heart full of giving
Going nowhere (going nowhere)

Daylight will come and steal the night sights
Starlight on black replaced with gray light
Now I must go and set my best pace
Running all day in the human race
But now I know the good news
Before you win you have to lose

Somebody tell me you love me
Somebody tell me you care
I've got a heart full of giving
Going nowhere going nowhere

How much longer must I travel on
Looking for someone to help me sing my song
How much longer will it be
I need to find someone
For the love
From me

Somebody tell me you love me
Somebody tell me you care
I've got a heart full of giving
Going nowhere (going nowhere)

Well, that's about the saddest thing I've read lately. lol

But aside from that, I've seen these guys in concert twice. First time was at the Aladdin. Great accoustics and pretty good seats too. That was... Geeeze, like 16 years ago. The last time was at the House of Blues in the Hard Rock. Best venue in the world and I was so close to them, I could have lobbed a golf ball and hit Justin... not that I'd ever do that. God, I love that guy.

DAMN, DAMN, DAMN

I admit I lied :(

But you could still share details.

*waits hopefully*

Details... huh?

We went to the movie at 8.

We had a late dinner. I had a salad, grilled salmon and asparagus. He had salad, steak (medium), vegetables and baked potato. We both cleaned our plates. This was after 10. He drank a couple of beers, I had iced tea.

Sometime between midnight and 9 this morning, I slept. He did too.

We fixed breakfast and ate it.

He brought me home at 10 this morning. Yea... that's 14 hours. ;-) Now, I'm doing laundry. Anything else you're curious about? lol

Did you have a night gown at his place or do you have a large purse with extra room for said night gown and toothbrush?

Well you did ask, and I would hate not to take you up on your offer lol

*smiles sweetly when asking*

I've been lonely for awhile and when I read "Another thread that leads to nowhere..." I just had this feeling of being alone. This morning at work I was stealing some time and checking up on your thread. "you and me going nowhere" started bouncing around in my head and I set out to Google to track down the full lyrics. During the hunt I stumbled across that Moody Blues song and felt it captured my feelings in the moment and just posted it for the hell of it.

I love the Moody Blues so much. Thanks for the story about seeing them.

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters Ive written,
Never meaning to send.

Beauty Id always missed
With these eyes before,
Just what the truth is
I cant say anymore.

cause I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.

Gazing at people,
Some hand in hand,
Just what Im going thru
They can understand.

Some try to tell me
Thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be
You will be in the end,

And I love you,
Yes, I love you,
Oh, how, I love you.
Oh, how, I love you.

Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters Ive written,
Never meaning to send.

Beauty Id always missed

I read one time years ago, in Rolling Stone that the Moodys were the "thinking man's rock 'n roll band". I've always believed that to be a good description of their music.

Here's one that might make you smile, by another Brit band... bet you know who it is, too ;-)...

Two of us riding nowhere
Spending someone's
Hard earned pay
You and me Sunday driving
Not arriving
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

Two of us sending postcards
Writing letters
On my wall
You and me burning matches
Lifting latches
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing so low
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home

You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead

Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing so low
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home
