I know that there are many threads on the forums at Lit addressing this subject; I've read many of them and tried the tips and methods suggested. But still, I'm having huge problems shaving my pubic area. I'm wondering if others have found that they are just unable to keep the area smooth. Even when I think I've done it well, I end up with the red bumps. My PYL wants me shaved and I'm trying hard to comply, but honestly I'm sure that neatly trimmed must be sexier than the red bumps. I've yet to pose this question to him, but he will read it here.

So, my questions: Are any of you unable to shave your pubic area? If so, do you have problems with sensitivity to products and/or environment as well? Also, I'm curious if other redheads have this problem, since generally we are a sensitive skinned bunch. Thanks for your thoughts.

I was just discussing this with another member on Lit.

What I've discovered is that if I dab rubbing alcohol where it's needed (nicks and cuts) and then use a men's aerosol deodorant (original Right Guard) that it helps get rid of them really fast and keeps them under control after I shave.

Hello electric razor, where have you been all my life?! I found the perfect electric razor and, just after my PYL eased up on the must-be-smooth requirement, I've finally been able to keep my pussy bare.

And Chy, rubbing alcohol? really? That sounds...painful! (not my kink! :) )

Tips probably already given

At times I like to shave my pet as a treat and have found first getting her to use a good hair conditioner helps to soften the hair then use electric trimmer to shorten any long hairs then use a razor and shaving cream and finally apply a moisturising cream, if I don't use this then yes can have red bumps. I might finally add that having seen her do it find that she over shaves areas and leans on the razor both of which cause razor burn

Really... I find that there's only one way to go.

Wax.

In my opinion, it's much smoother and much better. I've always preferred a waxed cunt to a shaved cunt.

I know, it hurts. I never said it was the easiest way to go, just that it has the best results. I'm sure he will appreciate the extra effort.

I had an ex that was a redhead and she had some issues when we shaved her with irritation.

I had laser treatment about 5 years ago. It is hideously expensive but worth it, what hair is left is very fine and I just run a razor over it once or twice a week.

I had six treatments and armpit hair removal was done for free :) I never have to shave there now!

I'm really fortunate in the underarm hair department...none grows there! My grandma has never grown hair on her legs. We have some interesting genetic issue that is wonderful.

My ex did this. $1,500.00 for pubes and armpits. You got quite a good deal.

And there is always the option of *chemical* "shaving." Wife #3 found that Magic Powder (or Creme) was a very effective depilatory. Originally designed to help black men avoid shaving bumps, it's also quite useful for lighter-skinned folks to remove undesired hair. I've heard that some people are sensitive to it, but neither she nor I ever had a sensitivity issue with it, and after two or three repetitions (after having been a "shaver," the hair that grows back in seems to be softer and silkier, and easier to remove. It's available in the U.S. at Walgreen's in the men's hair product section, and other large chain pharmacies as well. It does have a rather nasty smell, but that only lasts until you've completed the treatment.

If you have sensitivity issues to depilatories but "need" to shave, I would strongly recommend using an aloe-based shaving cream after thoroughly washing/soaking the area to be shaved (softens the hair). The aloe helps substantially in reducing the red bumps.

I'm in the process of getting this done now. It is ridiculously expensive, and hurts like woah (don't let them lie to you, most places it does NOT feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin!), but it is SO worth it. It's awesome because I just had my legs done Monday and they still feel like I just finished shaving them. Such a great time saver, and cuts out the irritation!

I think my bundle includes eight treatments (though I may not need all of them) and then any touch ups as needed for life. So, pretty much if anything grows back due to hormonal changes, I just go back and they take care of it. Pretty sweet deal.

I definitely want to do this at some point. If I can ever afford it. :(

See? I knew you were a masochist! :p

I've been saving up for it for years (probably literally about five years). The place I'm getting it done at were running a promotional where you'd get a certain percentage off for meeting different criteria and for having multiple locations done. If you do some research on local places that offer the procedure and keep watching in case they offer specials, you might get it a whole lot cheaper.

It is definitely a good release for those "I need some hurt" times, but unfortunately I don't really like the super stingy, knife under the skin feeling. It's better than nothing, though.

Not me!!!!

I don't know that I really want that kind of sensation. But then again, that kind of sensation compared to no more sugaring or shaving. Hmmmm. I'm going to have to start looking into this once I get finances back in order.

I get terrible razor burn from repeated shaving.

I've tried shaving creams, conditioner and moisturizer. Even waxing just brought numerous broken capillaries to the surface!

For me it's just continued trial and error :)

I think that overshaving, as mentioned by wisk above, was a problem for me. Too many strokes with the razor. This is why the electric razor is working so well; I've been able to remove nearly all of the hair and what remains is easy to keep smooth with few strokes.

When I shaved I used to dab on witch hazel afterwards. It's cooling and soothing and helped a lot with the red bumps.

Ohhh, thank you :) I'll have to try that! Do you mean neat witch hazel out of a bottle or some of those witch hazel products they produce?

I might have a look at an electric razor. I've had them in the past but they never really got everything all smooth.

I just bought a bottle from the chemist and used a cotton ball to dab (don't rub!) it on :)
