... has come and gone. Some advice for everyone.

Take a piece of paper and write "2008" on it about 100 times. You won't screw up any checks you write that way.

If you do screw up a check by writing 2007 instead of 2008, just a little more and you can turn that seven into an eight. Follow it around one more time and it will look almost perfect.

Some important facts!

Most important to remember, just 358 shopping days left until Christmas.

2008 is a leap year. 29 days in February.

2008 is an election year in the U.S.A. Get out and vote and vote smart.

44 shopping days until Valentines Day. Don't forget. Order those roses now!

Four and half months until Mothers Day. Don't forget!

Just five months until Memorial Day. Yippee!!!!!

You can get good deals on fireworks right now. July Fourth is right around the corner. Six months to go.

By the way, Labor Day is September 1 this year, the earliest it can come. Plan now!!!

As usual, Halloween will be on October 31st. Word has it this will be a good year for pumpkins. If you buy left over Christmas candy, you can save a lot!

Not too early to plan for thanksgiving either. Good deals on turkeys abound. I'd buy the frozen ones though. The fresh ones might not quite make it.

Did I mention, 358 shopping days until Christmas.

What can you add?

Can you really buy frozen turkeys this early? I thought it always sais they had to be eaten within one month and although I'm not a freak at sticking to these guidlines I think a year might be pushing it...

I like the writing 2008 bit, I did the whole of the cashing up for my shop yesterday writing 2007 *duh*...

This isn't really a useful tip but a nice one nevertheless... I write down all of my hopes for the year including new years resolutions but also other things like what books I'm going to read, films I'm going to see, people I'm going to catch up with etc. on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope. I open in on the 31st of December at about 11.30 and think about what the last year has brought and how far I've come.

Properly wrapped and frozen, you can do about a year. It's not recommended though. The plastic they come frozen in is not good enough. Get a giant ziplock freezer bag, put the turkey in it, still wrapped in the original plastic. Close it, squeezing most of the air out. Then leave a tiny opening and suck the rest of the air out with a straw. Close it up and keep it in the deep freeze (-10 F, -24 C).

A lot depends on your freezing technique. Air is your biggest enemy. I'd have to check my chart, but I think recommended is four - six months. The turkey thing was half way joking, but you can do it.
