Another day at the bird feeder

Downy WP I think. They're really skitterish and pick 1 sunflower seed at a time and fly off with it. :)

They spend quite a bit of time on my suet, and in the spring/ summer bring the young with them and show them the ropes.

Did you get the picture with a phone? Impressive.

In my part of the world, you can't be sure if that rapid sound is a peckerhead drilling for bugs or a peckerhead with a full auto.

Ever watch a peckerhead leave a tree?

They don't fly off. They drop and commence to flapping while falling.

I once had the bad luck to have a pileated woodpecker take a shine
to one of the metal exhaust pipes on the roof. He set up there for a long
as half-an-hour at a time and there was no way to sleep though it and
it was a two-story home, so there was no way to scare it off.

Could be an example of why "bird brained" is considered a perjorative. :)

You'd think it would have taken him less than a day to figure out there were no bugs under the metal.

Now that our first, and probably last winter storm has hit,
the bird feeder is the most popular hangout in my part of the forest.

There must be at least eight pairs of cardinals alone.
I wonder if they lead prayers of thanks...

Tweety will sooner get credit than I will.
Stupid bird brains.
