Has anyone ever run two diffrent antivirus programs?

I am reloading my puter after striping it down yesterday and it cam with McAfee and I have the whole Norton Internet security package. In the past I just put Norton on. Is there any advantage to putting both on?
Kinda like a double rubber thing?.........

As long as the two don't conflict and you keep them up to date I can't see a problem, also you might want to think about a firewall too.

You can get a free firewall from the same place you got that freeware image viewer I found for you....good luck ;)

Thanks Outsider, I have a fire wall with that Norton Package.....
It has Antiviruse, personal firewall, and privacy control.

seems like i read somewhere that they don't get along together.

i would not do it.

I thought thry might not thats why I was asking............

Ah! So you went with Norton, eh? I don't think you will be disappointed. I've been using it since they first came out with the Internet Security package, and its worked great for me!

As for running two AntiViruses... Probably no problem, unless they conflict as stated before. But you will also need to keep both update subscriptions going too, eh? That might pan out to an unnecessary expense in the longrun... Plus, there's the whole issue of system resource consumption. Do you really feel as though the cost of CPU cycles is warranted? Your call in the end...

Never had a problem with Norton and if one is to be used it would be Norton cause I have the whole package there. I just didn't know if there were any advantage to both ........I think I might leave them both on for now and the first sign og a conflict I'll wack McAfee off the system.

Hmmmmmm....Somehow thats not quite what I meant...........But it is funny...........LOl

I've heard there would be a conflict but have no personal experience with it.

Hmmmmm...kinda sounds like wearing two condoms.

Hahaha Thats what I said in my first post Miles.........I thought so too...

But as long as you're Double Condom'd, at least it shouldn't get things too sticky...

Ohhhh... I'm feel'n so degenerated this morning....

its a very bad idea dont do it :) never done it myself but i know for a fact its a bad thing to do

just use norton and make sure you get live updates weekly

yep Got it .............Will do.never had a problem updating.....

I have an HP Pavillion that came with McAfee virus scan. I recently installed Norton Systemworks.. along with RAM booster and Black Ice Defender. They worked fine for awhile.. then I started having reboot and shut down problems. I went thru and uninstalled everything.. and slowely reinstalled all. Worked fine for awhile, then started doing the same thing. Then I worked for hours on the phone with a cousin that works at HP and even more hours on the HP troubleshooting webpage. I finally found my problem.. (in little itty print hidden on the HP webpage). It was Norton Systemworks and McAfee.. On the HP they are not compatable (HP isn't compatable with anything Norton.. it just plain hates it. I guess they have a deal with McAfee and have it set up that Norton can't be used on their computers).

I read somewhere (and I'll see if I can find where it was). That Norton products and McAfee products don't like each other. I wouldn't use the two together.
