My second story was just published today on Literotica.com, and someone sent me the following ANONYMOUS feedback:

It's the same story, only a new chapter,. so use the same fucking title and add the chapter number, asshole. Rating of one for being a moron.

So I just went to my Main Options and shut off the ability to accept any more Anonymous Feedback. Cuz this kinda comment is cruel and rude and totally uncalled for, in a group of so-called MATURE adults who are supposed to be supporting each other. And I don't mind telling this MORON myself that YOU, my Anonymous Friend, are the real and only ASSHOLE around here, cuz you don't even have the fuckin nerve to tell me who you are, so I can explain myself to you. And so from now on, you freakin' ignorant idiot, you will NOT be able to hurt me anymore with your inane, nasty, crass, and unnecessary remarks! Thanks a lot, dickhead!!!!!

Hi, Leslie, and welcome to Lit. Don't be put off by one ignorant asshole. I get a lot of anonymous feedeback and PC and most of them are complimentary, saying somthing like "Good story. It really got me off." This, of course, is the kind of feedback I like to get because all I try to write are stories to wank or frig to. :)

THANKS, SMUT!

Thanks for the encouragement, baby! I am not totally put off by one ignorant remark, cuz the good ones more than make up for it. I just get so annoyed at people who hurt other people's feelings, when they do not even know that person, and they have no idea how what they say can cut like a knife to a sensitive kinda lady like me. Cuz I put a lot of myself out there, for all the world to see, and anybody who does not appreciate what I do for them, in trying to turn them on BURNS MY ASS!!! LOL!!! Love and kisses to you, honey!

Hey, welcome to lit!

The funny thing is, the idiot probably didn't even read your story! Forget em, they probably can't write either! ;) :D

Hey Leslie,

Anyone who writes here gets an offering from the trolls. LOL - consider it your stamp of approval induction into Lit. You are not truly a writer until someone hates you. :D And typically, they hate you because they are jealous ;)

Welcome. :rose:

Dear Charley,
I am in 100% agreement with you! And being an ANONYMOUS green-eyed monster, I would have to add that also means they are a big fat COWARD !!! As far as I am concerned, those kinda critics are simply lower than a snake's belly is to the ground !!! LOL!!! Thanks for your support. Love and kisses,   Leslie

Hey Leslie,

Welcome!

Don't worry about any thing signed anonymous. He's such a pompous asshole and he can't have read all the stuff he claims to have.
:D

Just enjoy yourself.

Hi Leslie,
Yup, there are assholes everywhere. I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on the shutting off of your anonymous feedback, though. I've been roaming these threads for a few weeks now, and to be honest all I've seen of reviews are Great! Awesome!

I haven't found anyone who wants to give an honest critique, it seems, while using their user names. I'm not saying the reviews aren't there...I just haven't found any.

Anyway, aside from the morons, the anonymous critiques seem to be the most honest. Just my two cents.

LOL! I had to come back to tell you I just stumbled upon an honest critique here! So, it does happen. :)

LOL!!! Ten minutes after I shut it off, I turned the ANONYMOUS FEEDBACK ACCEPTED option back ON!!!

Love and kisses,

Well done for you. Don't let the fools annoy you.

Personally I enjoy the really "good" bad feedback. I now deeply regret deleting the death threat - in retrospect, I'm quite proud of that one ;)

I have been writing and posting stories around the web for sometime now and I am constantly amused by the weirdness that exists out there!:D :D
We live in a crazy but rather stimulating world.

Good to have you here, Leslie, and we look forward to seeing more of your post and stories.

Don't feel bad, Leslie. A couple of years ago, my email was flooded by some ASSHOLE who responded anonymously to all of my stories. Every email was a critique. And like you, I posted about it in the "General Chat" forum titled "Did Someone Lose Their Balls?". Now don't get me wrong, I welcome criticism just as I do comments and compliments. But his was the ONLY criticism that I'd ever received in all of my years of writing erotica. And to make it all funny is that none of his/her letters were relovant to the stories that were critiqued. They complained of the fact that I write in all 3 senses (narrator of the story as a man, woman, and 3rd person) and he ended one of the emails with "You don't have a clue of what you're doing."

IMO, that was a sad ass plow to discourage me from writing, probably because the person felt threatened in regards to their stories. And because I've received more compliments than criticisms, I brushed it off as a worthless prank.

You are Right

Leslie, you are right. The people who hide and comment are often cruel. I have not recieved any but have seen cruel comments in others stories and it is really painful.

But do not disable the comments. Just ignore those folks.

Love

Prince

Welcome!

There are a few jerks who seem to use the Literotica feedback system to spew hate anonymously. However, some of the feedback can be useful. I would suggest just deleting the crap and learn from the constructive criticism.

Nine chances out of 10, they're probably non-members or just kids playing on the computer before their mommy gets home.:D

Anon Comments

Hi LeslieBlue , I agree with what people are saying here about Anon comments, but also would like to add another reason I am not keen on them:- When a person does give good, constructive criticism, it would be nice to thank them for pointing out a few mistakes that I make.

Hi Wishfulthinking , love your pic, if that is really your pic I could certainly work that body into a storyline sometime :D

I have only had one story published on here so far, but do have 3 more pending. Got some positive feedback, one picked a lot out of my story but at least he posted his name, so I thanked him/her. Guess everyone has their own thoughts and likes, but as long as they are constructive then thats fine with me.

Will have to read some of your stories soon as I finish a few more and post. And to all the great, and trying to be great, writers out there, keep those keyboards clicking.

Cheers

Hi Leslie!

I haven't been around here for a while, but I have received more than my fair share of anonymous feedback which was less than favorable. I think the most amusing one I received was for a story I had written for the Gay Male category. The feedback told me it was a disgusting story and that men shouldn't be fucking other men. I had a great laugh over that one - if this "person" believed that gay sex was so disgusting, why was he reading stories in the Gay Male category? :D

You will get the good with the bad. If I get feedback from some one anonymous, good or bad, I have a tendency to glance at it and then delete it. They obviously don't want me to respond, so why spend extra time on it?

Good luck with your continued writing!

Generally, I don't often comment on stories.
However, if I see I story I feel really needs the criticism, I will. Especially if I feel like the author has potential, or like they're being lazy.
I've learned to post these anonymously, though. I also post stories on Lit and I have little other choice. If I give feedback using my name and it turns out to be a person who can't handle honesty (NOT cruelty, honesty. I try to be polite) then I get someone who trolls on my stories.
So for the most part, I avoid giving feedback. You can't expect everyone who gives you feedback to shower you in praise. You won't improve that way. You may not like what someone has to say, but if they're not really being a complete asshole about it then there's no reason to get all trolly.

Hi, Bright. I tend to largely agree with what you are saying. Personally, I welcome honest criticism, and I sometimes make changes in posted stories if I agree with it. There may be some who don't, though, and if I am going to strongly, even though honestly, criticize a story, I would do it anonymously. Unfortunately, that's the way it is.

The criticism being described on this thread was just insulting, not honest suggestions for improving a story and the thread title is correct.

Believe me, I have gotten pretty good at taking all kinds of criticism, whether it is good or bad, as long as it is CONSTRUCTIVE. And the constructive criticism is always welcome with this writer. The ignornant, stupid remarks are the things that bother me, and there is really no place for remarks like that anywhere, least of all this particular website.

Now I just had someone post a 0 rating in a PUBLIC COMMENT, for putting my story under the wrong category, and that one was also left ANONYMOUSLY. So here is another idiot, who lowers my voting potential, who berates ME, the writer, and does not even realize that I am not the one who picks the category for my story, LITEROTICA does the categorizing!!!

Okay, now I definately don't agree with getting a Zero simply because your story was in the wrong catergory.
But I don't think Literotica is very on top of things. I accidently put something in the wrong catergory once...like it was so obvious that it was wrong...but Lit posted it in that catergory anyway and as far as I know, it was never fixed.

Yeah, I posted a group sex interacial story and got some hate mail. haha I didn't know the KKK type could read! Oh well, it just made me want to write another one just like it.

To be honest, I haven't received any constructive comments, I'm wondering if I should just turn off the public comments. What do you guys think?

What I wouldnt give for two minutes alone in a sealed room with one of those "anonymous" trolls and a baseball bat.

I dont mind someone saying, "Hey your story sucks ass, you shouldve done this,"

Its the people that just say, "You suck, take a long walk off a short pier," that irritates me.

I guess I'm really bad, because I don't often read the stories here. But when I do, I always like to send the writer a little note letting them know what I thought of it. Most of the time my comments are positive and encouraging. A couple of times a story didn't work for me, and I wrote the writer a note letting them know that, but also letting them know that I didn't vote on the story because I didn't want to give them a low score. Some have actually written me back thanking me. (Perhaps because I didn't vote??)

I finally wrote in my profile that I appreciated constructive criticism and assured readers I would not get defensive if they told me honestly what they didn't like. I've only had a couple of people take me up on that by writing me a note telling me what they didn't like and leaving an email. I responded nicely, and actually had some very good communication with them. And I learned things!

Point is, some people think writers get overly emotional about their work (Okay, so sometimes we do!), but a well-meaning criticism, sensitively given is most often appreciated by others. And since I've long given up whether or not my stories are on the top 10 list, I'm not bothered by "trolls".
