Anonymous Bot?

I seem to be getting anonymous comments on some stories, according to my latest activity page, or not. The comment sections on the stories don't show any new posts. Some bot or spammer creating mischief perhaps, quickly deleted? Is this going around the site?

There is a delay between the time a comment shows up on your activity page and the time it posts to the story itself. Sometimes those comments are deleted by Laurel before they ever hit the story. Also, it gives you the opportunity to delete some of the more offensive stuff before anyone else has to read it. That delay can stretch for hours, depending on site traffic.

I just found it suspicious that three of the comments were posted at the same time. They were apparently up for hours by the time I noticed so I assumed deletion. I'm just curious to see if the site's being attacked in some way.

Some of the deleted comments are just spam - nothing to do wih your story, or you.

There's more than one delay. There's a delay between when the comment is submitted and when it's approved. When it's been approved, you get the notification on your home page that you have a comment on your story. At that point, if you go to your "Works" page, you can look at the story in question, then look to the right of it for the blue icon that looks like a word bubble. When you click there, you should be able to see it. It will not show up on the comments of you story page immediately. That's the second delay. I've seen the second delay take more than a day, but I think less that a day is more typical. I think it's probably when the site refreshes, but that's just a guess.

I'm wondering if what you are interpreting as comments being deleted were comments that looked like they were up because you got a notification on your home page, but the comments just haven't hit you story page yet. You can find out by clicking on that word bubble icon next to your story on the works page.

Looks like a false alarm. Apparently the comments are legit. I guess the lag was longer than usual.

Could be deleted spam.

Might also be the same AnonAnus commenter spamming your story with their acidic insights... only to be deleted by the mods.
