WTF is this?

I received this anonymous e-mail from a Litster today:

So what is your beef with Man Ray. You used to be a reader, a commenter,
mentioner in new poem reviewer. As a new poems reviewer, commenter, fellow
poet, threadmaker and contribtor, commenter, maintaing personal bias is out of
place. Your absence is noticed my many. I bring it to your attention for the
sole reason that it looks poorly on you. If your comments and feedback are not
laudatory, I would rather (as a fellow reviewer) see them in his poems so that
we all can have your perspective. Thank you.

---------
What the hell is this? It's my choice to make a comment or mention someone's poem in my review. It's nothing personal if someone isn't mentioned or if I haven't left a comment.

Whoever wrote this has a serious problem (and poor spelling as well)

Ignore it. I seriously, seriously doubt this came from any "fellow reviewer". This person obviously has no idea of what that thread - or indeed commenting on poetry - is about.

"maintaing" does have a nice ring to it.
"Gutless" you forgot gutless. :)

What a crock 'o shit, show me a reviewer that doesn't have bias, although some are more biased to good writing ;)

Look if you are not going to mention someone's poem in your review, for whatever reason you have. You have my respect.
Not that it will buy you anything.

I don't see a ManRay poem listed today!
The one yesterday was MENTIONED.

It appears they do not understand how the thread works (as Lauren noted)
and it is the reviewers right to mention those poems in which moved them, or they found favorable or worth mentioning. Don't swet it Chris; you do wonderful reviews. (~_~)

somethings just don't change....good to be home, kind of a touch of whimsical...although would be nice for a bit more freedom around here to say how one feels...sorry to hear someone singled you out Vampire.

One should always take anonymous criticism or abuse as a compliment. Serious criticism and abuse is planned, targeted and is signed off with a name.

That's as bad as getting Troll bombed because you didn't mention someone's poem or gave a less than stellar review of one.

Time out.

Let us not jump to conclusions so easily.

I left the first comment anon. by accident. The same thing happened today on a poem I commented on, and I came back to claim my comment.

I do not understand why it is necessary to sign in every time, and even when I did, if the radio button is not switched on the right spot, you are still signed in as anon. Maybe I am missing something, do you have to sign in EVERY time you leave a comment? It seems to be so overkill.

The comment I left was legit, anon or not. I simply thought the image was not as crisp as it could be. God Forbid I post a comment that is not perfectly glowing? From one photographer to another, I was trying to give constructive criticism, an honest opinion. I have no beef with ManRay, nor do I have any reason to believe he has any with me, although others apparently do not approve of my leaving a simple, non-inflammatory comment, suggesting that it was not to be considered feedback for one reason or another. I found it to be interesting that others came to ManRay's apparent rescue when he was in no way under attack.

I have nothing with him at all, do not feel threatened, in competition, not jealous, no feelings of superiority, inferiority, whatever, people jump to conclusions so easily. Simple: I just saw a photo that I though could be improved with some added contrast and left a comment saying such.

No one is above criticism, no matter how many people think their work is wonderful, no matter what awards they have been given, how many things they have sold, no one is perfect, whatever level of wow what a great piece of art, no one is above an honest critique without it being shot down as having ulterior motives.

I also was very curious as to how a poem could have the H without having voting on. I think ManRay has every right to turn off his voting, of course. I just fail to see the great conspiracy of his "fellow poets" and do not appreciate such accusation nor do I see any value in it.

Sorry I went off there, I know this thread was not started because of the exchanges in the comment section, but I have a feeling that the note to Chris might have been started by the anon comment I left by accident. I decided to leave my post instead of deleting it.... as it is kind of in topic

Ignore it Chris, this is the prime example of jumping to conclusions, jumping to someone's rescue with a personal when there is no victim.

As MET said, there was not even a new poem from ManRay today for you to review.

Sorry you got the note, please do not let it discourage you from your voluntary service to this community. You are a positive force here, give honest reviews, put a lot of time into the sanity around here. I have decided to do what I think is right, and forget people who can't take the truth, that is their issue, not mine. :rose:

Christian

You're doing a fine job. I remember a time a few months back when the new poems reviews were almost all done by one person {or so it seemed at times}. It's nice to see other folks pitching in and helping you with the reviews.

And as for the drive-by hissy fit, do as Lauren suggests - ignore it. Stick to your standards - it's about what catches (or not) your eye. Keep your reviews as sparse or wordy as you choose - it's your style and your call - as distinctive and different as a review by Angeline.

Sorry, Mr. D., but I find the note you were sent hilarious. Pathetic and needy, but hilarious.

I went and looked at Mr. Ray's poem from yesterday and some of the comments on it are pretty delusional as well. Maybe that explains the otherwise mystifying comment "Your absence is noticed my many," which must surely refer to the anonymous commentator's multiple personality disorder.

Too funny. Ignore it.

Know what you mean - if logged in, it would be nice if comments automatically recognized this. It does get a bit old at times logging in at each comment and reentering the password.

Damn, that was some funny shit. Thanks for the tip, someone should mention that comment page on a recommended reads thread. :D

ah . . . more conspiracy theories . . .

this time, i just know there's a grassy knoll involved.

is this about ManRay's poem "Peacetroopers?" . . . poetically, that is one really bad poem, IMO.

just asking, not that i care -- how does a poem get an H with the voting off? :)

if i had to guess, i'm with Tzara. it's a conspiracy of one . . . and that multi-personed person votes 5.

i can imagine them beating their feet from computer to computer, coffeehouse to library, leaving votes and anon comments . . .

listen to Tzara, Christian. he's a very smart man. ignore it, and smile.

Um, isn't that in the same tin foil hat-category as all the other comspiracy loons we tend to  at in here from time to time.

Guy's got a fan base. Whoop. Got ten fast and high votes, then turned voting off. Whoop. One of them sends Christian a weird comment. Not so whoop.

Dat's all.

probably. :)

it was just a thought, as i said.

i couldn't care less about the voting, or conspiracies, or anonymous e-mails.

i just want to write and share poetry. all this other shit has been off my radar screen for a long time. i just thought this note that Christian received was far more humorous than most.

That is was.

Brought back memories of my old favourite feedback email:
Why don't you answer me?!

You Scandinavians are so practical. Why I thank my grandparents for those genes.

And my tinfoil hat is sensible. Keeps the UV off my tender scalp. Helps the Washington aluminum industry at the same time. So there.

I thought the tinfoil hats were supposed to ensure that aliens couldn't read our minds...I'm so outta the loop.

Reflects the rays, babe. Let's just say I am more in need of that now than in my younger years.

Plus, I look like Napoleon. Kinda cool. :)

I think you are just trying to find a convenient excuse for why your hand is always in your pocket. ;)

I have cold hands. Or maybe it's warm hands. I forget. ;)

I often wonder how many of the reviewers know about commenting on poetry. Why did some of the best leave?
Jim?

Mr. 73939133, why don't you do the reviews?

uh....

I don't know about y'all, but I got me some lofty aspriations.

At all times I strive to be either

a) mentioner in new poem reviewer... {tough nut to crack!}

or, failing that, a

b) contribtor maintaing personal bias out of place... :D

Then, when
all else fails,

I can join a troupe of bs skinner rhesus monkeys in tin foil robot suits with Chili Pep Fish Bowl Helmets, composing snippets of Hotmail Spam on IBM Selectrics hung indiscriminately from Spanish Moss like baubles on Tarzan's Xmas Tree.

Yay :p

ps...

if Man Ray could learn to take pics
such as Eve's current AV, all bets are
seriously off to da races! :rose:
