Okay so I've had this idea for awhile and I wanted to share with everyone else and ask for your thoughts about having SRP awards for different categories just within our own little section.

Of course with rules like you can't nominate yourself for best fe/male writer and it must have been a thread posted within this year and so forth. With categories like best sex scene within a thread, best BDSM thread, best incest thread and etc.

So you get my point, I already thought it through a fair bit and pretty much know what I think and who I'd nominate in each category because I read like a demon on crack :D but what do you guys reckon?

Just for fun discussion :rose:

Lmfao! I love it Ezra! :D

I did leave out something - not allowed to nominate any thread you write in either, just to be fair :)

Definitely gotta have the wooden spoon - worst thread.

Gotta have the best gay/lesbian thread and the best creature feature (separate categories for Vamps/Lycans and Furries/Neko's though) one too! Let's not forget best editor - they have that in the stories forum so we gotta have that one!

Oooo best collaborative post :D that one would be shweet! I know what I'd nominate too hehehe

Most fucked up...omg that's gonna be a tough call...thread overall or post? LOL!

Keep this going guys!

There will be some who won't get to nominate at all there in so many threads.

*looking curious* wooden spoon?...oh! I get it ..probobly not much of a threat around here..:)

Both thread and post for most fucked up..I actualy have someone in mind to come up with the nominees and then we vote...Dragonrazor.. he posted on just about everything so will know where the "good stuff" is, plus I regard him as relatively impartial..

Thinking of having categories for different genres? Sci-fi, fantasy, etc? Creative writer in a fantasy section can have a lot of fun with magic.

Oooo very nice Shadow, sub sections for categories will be a requirement; particularly in categories like Fantasy.
- Sci Fi (Aliens, the bizarre unseen, unknown stuff)
- Magic (Witches, Wizards, Warlocks etc)
- Furries/Nekos
- Vamps/Lycans
- Then the extras like Fairies, Elves and so forth...

Sound about right? Did I cover everything?

Doesn't the Lit board already do this?

I voted in something last year I seem to remember.

They have all of these categories and we all vote. They give out awards to :)

is true they did yeishia.

Turned into a ridiculous popularity contest. Had two things with no businesss winning at all, winning romance. It ended up with a lot of hurt feelings. I like the idea of giving a shout out or props to threads or posts you like. But awards are kind of a bad idea.

I tend to agree with you. CT.

It would be the same as the writer appreciation threads I am guessing.

There are so many great writers and threads that I for one never even come across.

It might be fun for come though I am guessing:rose::rose:

I must be honest though I am so scared of getting the wooden spoon or worst :D:eek::eek:

I hate to rain on your parade Minxy, but it's difficult to put up awards and make it impartial. I for one like awards simply because it gives me a lot of good reading material, but when people's hard work is put into it... awards tend to get personal. It gets bitter when a person's thread isn't nominated or chosen.

I think we all have cliques and circles we prefer to run in and our nominations/votes will show that. The lounges are a general evidence of the cliques that already exist. I know personally I probably would vote for people I've already been comfortable with which will skew my judgment. This is because I've read their work, or have worked with them and I think highly of them. It makes me biased because I tend to not put as much emphasis on people I don't know. Also, since this is a free subscription, anyone can create a new account to nominate themselves... (if they feel so compelled to be in it.)

But, regardless of all that, the previous edition of this was hosted by Fukensploogin also known as The Smexy Awards.

There were 3 votes that went up before the whole thing ran out of steam, and they go as follows -
Smexy Award: Best Werewolf/Vampire Thread

Smexy Award: Best Romantic Thread

Smexy Award: Best Non-consent/Reluctance Thread

Honestly, if you take a look at a lot of the 'winners', I'm certain you can find a lot of better writing on the SRP site. This is especially felt when everyone's opinion is subjective. I'm sure we are all very proud of the threads we write.

It might be helpful to do more than just nominations, but also have someone second it. (i.e. 2 people need to vote for one thread. Of course this is all on the basis that no one is going to make a new account or use a spare account to vote twice.)

But those are just my thoughts. I thought to link them for you so you had something to go by. You'll see a lot of the questions that might be raised and how they were handled. There are a lot of good things in that Award nomination, but there are also a lot of bad that probably can't be avoided.

Yeishia having read some of your work, I would find it impossible to nominate you for the wooden spoon...however the big whip is up for grabs :D

Thanks for the links VT, that was a little before my time on Lit and thus I never saw it

I dunno, I can think of at least one SRP writer who I know loathes me but I would still nominate them in one category having read their work. I tend to read whatever people shove my way because I get a lot of people looking for an opinion beyond good/bad.

I also read the top of the message board when I get really bored, I have an extensive 'I've read' list and a 'want to read' list because I can't keep up with all of it otherwise  I'm subscribed to almost 50 threads now  and I guarantee not even half of them are mine.

Also I think I'd make it a little more structured than that, based on something akin to the actual Literotica stories awards with the 'not allowed to nominate yourself' rule in.

Personally I'm objective, I certainly have favourite writers...*coughs Yeishia, CT, VT coughs* to name a few ;) but I'd tell you in an instant if I found something substandard or lacking in your posts. I can just do it creatively and without prejudice.

I also know far too many writers on Lit and are friends with them to be considered in a 'clique' could you even imagine how huge that clique would be?!

I could honestly careless if I didn't get nominated or voted for. I'd love it if I was but I won't die without it, I never said I was writing to impress, it's merely creative expression to me. That being said, I truly would like to give the great threads I read more props and to state that they are really worthy of something great.

In any case it was a thought to put forward and an idea being toyed with, I have considered the dramatics factor as Ahren pointed that out to me in another thread. As far as I'm concerned; I don't understand it very well but then I tend to think on an impartial level of equality unknown to mankind apparently
